Matt & Lisa switching sides during PR Tour?

Usually Matt is on the left (from our perspective) and Lisa is on the right. And on the PR tour I think Matt had a Yamaha CP70 electric grand on his side.

.

.

And on the Syracuse concert it's like that but on the official Baby I'm A Star video (from a Landover MD show) and an Atlanta 85 show I"m watching Matt is on the right and Lisa is on the left.

.

.

Did they do it jsut to change stuff up? It looks the CP70 is still on the left with Lisa though so I don't thin they switched gear setups.

I asked Matt Fink specifically about this years ago. He said it was no particular reason other than to simply do it. And it was typically just for "Baby I'm A Star." It had nothing to do with anything other than something he and Lisa came up with for shits and giggles. Wasn't to fuck with anyone or that one couldn't play their instrument, etc.

They actually seem to switch when the "accent" part of IWD4U is in the latter half of the song, so they're in place for "Baby I'm A Star." I don't know about when Prince starts the "accent" part first (like on the 12" single).

But yeah basically "because, why not?"

So they just switch to each other's spots? I guess they both had the same lead synth in their rigs (Oberheims?) to do the synth lead solo on BIAS when they call out "Doctor!".

.

I thought it was odd that Matt had the CP70 when Lisa was more the classical pianist.

Yes, they literally just switched spots. I don't know what keyboards they had, but to think either couldn't play on the other's setup would be obtuse. There's so much draped fabrics and shit around those keyboards it's hard to tell anyway, but each of them had probably 4 or 5 in their pits.

As a keyboard player, I always want to try and find out exaclty what Matt is playing vs. Lisa, or Monty vs. Jam.

.

.

Sometimes they're doubling each other on a lot of the "gimme some horns!" stuff but then sometimes you can tell one person is holding string pads, the other (Monty) is doing piano chords....

.

.

I think Jimmy Jam did synth bass and synth brass most of the time. But these are the things I want to know (esp since. in my band I'm the only keyboard player!)
