The Time 3rd Album 1983?

The Time 3rd Album 1983?

Hey, fun thought

I was listening to the 1999 SDE and the thought occured to me while listening to the vault songs. The time didn't release an album in 1983.
The Time: 1981
What Time Is It?: 1982
Ice Cream Castle: 1984

What if they took some of those vault songs that sound like they could have been The Time songs and made an album in 1983

Album Title: The Time: International Lover

Side A
Bold Generation
If It'll Make You Happy
Money Don't Grow On Trees

Side B
International Love
Rearrange
Feel You Up or Do Yourself A Favor

.
Nice track list for a lost Time album!

Just a thought experiment (please consider it like this before you flip):
What if Morris would be asked in 2022 to record vocals to these tracks, using P's tracks as guide vocals...
How would you feel about this?

I like the idea, and your picks! But Don’t Let Em Fool Ya, sung down the octave, has The Time sound all over it and would make my version for sure. I can practically see them doing the choreography.

Possible b-side for the album's first single:
Cloreen Bacon Skin (7" edit)
Recorded in March 1983 (according to Princevault)

I wish he would have. It would have been just like his collaborations with him and bring the orginal 7 back to slightly rework the tracksa. It would have been a smart idea for him. He could still do it.

Wouldn’t that be basically the same as the b-side Tricky?

Maybe, except that Tricky was recorded in January '84 and CBS in March '83 😃

I'd love that in theory.

The execution would make or break it though. I think the trick would be to release the originals, and then release re-worked versions too, and let them have some flexibility, so it's not just Karaoke sounding with 2022 technology trying to sund like 1983, dropped on a 1983 track.

I also wouldn't mind if they let The Time do cover versions. I don't know that it would be a great Time record if you just threw Morris on it.

Remember, Prince put out no album in 1983.
