A couple of years ago, I went to see the Prince expo in Amsterdam. Did it twice, and it was a fantastic experience to see all the costumes, instruments, lyric sheets, etc.. This current Chicago exhibition looks even bigger. So, go see it if you can (-:

There is a video on YT going through it a few days before it was to open. There's a store you can go in at any point, an Emancipation room which explains a lot of his freedom journey, a Purple Rain room/town, all his discography is represented with blurbs and track lists, amazing photographs, and a few photo opportunities, including sitting on one of his motorbikes (which also has the stairs and a landing a la the Purple Rain cover), and another room with a chair and artifcats from the D&P tour, etc. There is a lot of attention to detail. It looks very wel put together.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

We have our tickets and are going in 2 weeks. We are in the Detroit area, and were going to be in Chicago anyway at the same time. So it all worked out nicely.

I've been avoiding any YouTube or news segments about it. When we got the tickets, it said that the Immersive Experience would take about an hour to finish.

A friend of mine asked me why this Immersive Experience was popping up in Chicago first, and not Minneapolis. Your point about Paisley Park exclusivity makes a lot of sense.

The immersive experience trend seems to be based on underwelming digital projections when people expect something more involved. But they can be twice the price, and they don't usually involve displays or full sensory experiences so this seems less cookie cutter than the others.

There was a Van Gogh immersive experience here in Detroit. I didn't go, but almost got tickets. I heard nothing but stories of delay after delay, and ultimately a relatively "meh" experience when it did finally happen. Like you said, this was was giant digital projections.

The Prince one at the very least has artifacts and music, and who knows what else.

I went last week. I was hesiitant as I've been to Paisley Park, and really, nothing will be able to come close to that. But a friend of mine really wanted to go to the Immersive thing so I went.

I had a great time. It was fun to be in the middle of everything Prince for an hour. They did make the studio look like one of the actual studios at PP. We danced a bit in the Glam Slam room...and it was cool to see a room dedicated to Emancipation (one of my fave 90s albums). Overall I loved it.

I went 2day it was pretty cool. We got 2 take pics in a few themed rooms, dance in a mock up of Glam Slam dance floor. The music was damn good -Bose Speakers were everywhere! there are tons and tons of high quality pictures of Prince everywhere. My favorite part was the corridor/room where there was an over sized picture of each and evey single album cover with a brief discription. Even the NPG music club albums. for some reason I dug seeing the PURPLEAXXE hanging there enclosed in glass. I loved seeing people dancing 2gether in the Glam Slam room. The dj was playing Computer Blue so I definitely got my boogey on 2 that! Also there were very cool Prince themed gear many visitors were wearing and so many different people wearing purple. I recommend going. Nothing new or groundbreaking for most loyal fans but a good display of the man's life and career.
