1.) I was talking about the Days of Wild single. You (not me, *you*) compared it to Purple Rain. My commenting on Purple Rain was following your lead. Did you lose track of your own train of thought?

2.) For me, yes, the degree to which some of the performances in the in SOTT film are over-dubbed undermines the concept of live performances.

3.) In fact, he is lip synching in parts of SOTT. For example, take a look at It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night. There are times when he's not even holding the mic near his mouth while you can clearly hear him singing. (I suspect that's one of the tracks that was at least partially recreated on the soundstage at PP.) Grant, those could be the overdubs and there may be other parts of the songhe is singling live, but it takes you out of the experience to when you see it.

There were overdubs for SOTT concert film (greatest filmed concert of all time btw). I can confirm said fact as I'm even more obsessed with the live recordings. Now why did I hang back on purchasing that blu-ray again? And what's more, who's that lovely looking, smiling black girl from the LA concert, I wonder?

He didn't dub over the Jersey Shore trio from LA concert. Who seemed unable to keep their hands off him, which was too funny. Oh and the black girl was one of the fans dancing on stage. Speaking of that recording, not easy to spot the overdubs. Were there any? The whole performance sounds clean, the sounds matching the movements.

The Estate and Sony do when a release is pending. I believe it was talked about on the one when the ONA reissue happened.

Just as an off topic remark, there are two versions of the Days of wild live in Monteal, The one that was on a CD giveaway for Celebration attenders was longer and included some extra lyrics and music.This was shortened for the "released version" and to remove song references to other songs.

Just checked my CD's and forgot aout those. Teh one track longer version cam in a regular CD-single case and the 3 track version with the edits came in a cardboard CD single sleeve.

He played it live with his newer, un-funkier band and added his own ad-libbing in the studio.

It was pulled from the album after negative feedback fro the press at the listening sessions in 1994, a year before it was released. Some british journalist said in his review that Prince was trying hard to come of as hard and gangsta annd failing hard with this laughable track. I think after those listening sessions Days of Wild and Acknowledge Me were dropped from the album, is n my opinion a bad decision beI was looking forward to these two tracks on the album bavk then

The studio version is, imho, very naked.

That statement from Mayté back then stated that the song was pulled for reasons of "bigger plans" was right.

i, for one, liked how it turned out in it's official release.

This, later, 2002 release was unnecessary.

I only liked the 1994-1995 live versions all the other live versions aren't that interesting to me and I love the original studio version(s)

I don't think I've heard the second version! I must track it down.
