Great job, Colbert -- you didn't ask the ONE IMPORTANT QUESTION: WHEN is Camille coming out??

Did we miss your TV show, book, other TV show, ....? Hmmm?

Colbert is one of the smartest men on TV. Certainly the most well-informed on late night when talking about current issues.

It's whatever. I've watched him in interviews, just riffing and he's a very smart guy.

That aside, I do greatly enjoy Jack White's knowledge of music, his forays into other industries, and just being kinda down to earth - even with blue hair.

I also very much enjoyed the advice Prince gave him. "Don't let anyone tell you how to play your guitar."

He's actually not very well-informed. He lives in a bubble where he's one aware of facts that support one side of an issue, and incorrectly rejects counter-vailing facts. And he buys into false narratives that support his tribal view. He's also sanctimonious and self-righteous.

Before anyone accuses me of being a right-wing Trump supporter, I'm far from it. I'm a militant moderate who things both sides are nuts. I see no difference between someone like Colbert and a Trump supporter. They're two sides of the same coin.

I'd love to get a Camille release soon, but at this point I'm not getting my hopes up for any kind of significant release in 2022. Hell, before too long it will have been 2 whole years since the last SDE neutral

It's fine, man. I wasn't looking for any support.

By the way, every politician and everyone who works for them or supports them is part of the corporate propaganda machine. Even Mica whatshername said "it's our job to tell people what to think," just the other day. Journalism is dead, and since we're talking about late night shows - I'd say we were in safe territory for entertainment.

I wish there was more info given by JW but at least it's a confirmation.

Side note: this was a perfectly good thread until some ppl came on here and shit all over it with their unsolicited and angry political views. Its the reason this place loses members and the importance it once had to the Prince community.

This means it wll be on vinyl!!! Can't wait to get my hands on this. As Baba-booey would say, this is going to be a good piece of vinyl.

I remember that moment. Howard was just clueless - as smart as he proclaims himself to be - about how one refers to vinyl, a piece of vinyl, etc.

I honestly don't know how Gary has put up with it all the time, even if most of it is in good fun or whatever. Like - isn't there a limit? I think Howard sorta measures everyone's life against his, and in his eyes everyone falls short. Except Robin.

Anyway, yeah, I always assumed it would be on vinyl. I wonder if it'll cheapen the existing vinyl copies that were original.

Agreed, and maybe I'm a little guilty of that here.

Back to JW - I love that they talked about it, and that JW is such a fan that he knows about Camille and its importance. He made a good point, that all the songs have been released, but never together as intended. I believe that's the important caveat here.

JW's explanation of how the albums wre pressed and pulled at the last minute doesn't seem accurate.

Did Camille ever get pressed, etc then pulled?

It sounded like he was discussing The Black Album, not Camille.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Camille art and test pressings were indeed made.

Yeah, he literally said that in the interview. Also, we know at least one exists because his former assistant Karen sold it on eBay in 2016, shortly after his death. Here's the pic from the auction.

So yeah, it was pressed. I mean, how do folks think Jack White has a copy? From all the already-released stuff and he's compiling a record for shits and giggles? The whole point was that White bought a copy.

I know that, dingus! I'm replying to someone who was asking if that happened, questioning what was said in the interview.

I love all those classic Gary/Howard "fights" and really miss vintage Howard. He has always spoken highly of Prince too.

Yeah, he's so watered down now and still takes himself too seriously. Watching him do interviews now (and in recent years), he really thinks he's David Brinkley, Peter Jennings or something. I never thought I'd have such a bad taste in my mouth about Stern, but he's honestly just boring AF now.

There's some woman producer that's been running the show (or running Howard) in recent years that has watered down his show. No more naked girls, no more Sybian, no more wack pack (except infrequent call ins), nothing remotely interesting. Just him pretending to "go deep" with someone.

I tried reading his last book of interviews, and I was bored out of my fucking mind. He tried to build the whole thing about a near-half dozen interviews (or howevermany) with pumpkin and frankly - the last thing I wanna read about is the former POTUS. The other interviews were just as boring on paper.

Yes, he's spoken well of Prince most times. He knows a genius when he sees them because he's always wanted to be one.

He is more than fan-tas-tic, exciting and damn knows how to make fresh excting music.

He knows how to do busyness, be inventive, how to fuck things up in the most interresting way.

I mean, upholstery, (owning a) baseballbat (company), his own vinyl plant in Ohio, a serious guitar wizzard, a great drummer, watch manufacturer owner, taxidermy, he has James Brown's driving license, Elvis' first recordings, ''III'', philantropist, etc?... What a guy.

Pay attention to his super interresting mindfucking lyrics too.

Prince could never be all that (and vice versa?).
