Sunset Sound Tour

Musician (and best known bass player for Phil Collins) Leland Sklar gives a walking casual tour of Sunset Sound.

And Princevault notes the albums recorded there, which is some of his best and most memorable material.

  • Controversy
  • 1999
  • Purple Rain
  • Around The World In A Day
  • Parade
  • Sign O’ The Times
  • Graffiti Bridge
  • The Hits / The B-Sides
  • The Black Album
  • Crystal Ball
  • The Vault... Old Friends 4 Sale
  • Lotusflow3r
  • ...plus endless associated acts and songs for established artists

Sklar has toured with Phil Collins, Lyle Lovett, Toto, James Taylor, and has appeared on endless albums. His wiki page is beyond impressive.

He also talks about "Sussudio" and plays along with a live track. I always loved the Phil used the 12" arrangement in his live shows, rather than just plunging into the album version.

True story. I got a look around in 2017. My sons (then 12) didn't get my excitement, so they went over to the 7/11 store across the road you can see at the start of the video. When they crossed back over, one of them stepped right out in front of a cab and nearly got hit. My other half was worried for their safety. Me? I noticed it was a Lady cab driver.

I follow Sunset Sound Studios on Instagram and Youtube and they are always posting some things about Prince. This week, they posted a cool tribute of a real good band playing ´She´s always in my hair´ on Youtube. I recommend.

And Sklar is amazing. One of Rhonda Smith´s fave bass players
