I Am #Transformed

It's the week. THE week.

It was six years ago today, at 10:33am Central that Prince tweeted, "I am #Transformed."

I really wonder what he meant by that. We'll never really know, but we know the event(s) that led up to it.

So instead of bemoaning his death, let's choose to celebrate his life this week, leading up to April 21 (which, for me, is also the date my mother died a decade ago in 2012).

Instead of going on with conspiracy theories about "he knew he was going to die" (in a fucking elevator????), let's go on about the music that has been released since his death, the joy we get hearing these songs that we thought we may never get to hear, seeing the videos we thought we'd never see, and enjoying the stories of his compassion and generosity that we never thought we'd absorb into our spirits; stories that - if we're real Prince fans - can only admonish our shortsightedness and enhance our ability to understand the meaning of love.

Stop telling me what U want me 2 hear
Stop telling me what U want me 2 fear
Stop tripping on somethin' U overheard
Love is winning without a word
Stop giving me your wish list
Love is free from all this

I thought that it was a retweet and Prince just flubbed the formatting a bit. I had read it was just a fan's reaction to his P&M tour date the previous night or whatever.

I'm leaving here in June and before I go I want to see some positivity, damn it! This thread could be a good start. I like your idea, Trivial. Let's not focus on the bad. Let's use this week to celebrate Prince's life and the music he gave us.

Hmmm, not sure that's right? Or is it?

Remember, the plane incident in Moline, Illinois, when he was unresponsive, was April 14. He was given naloxone, then (against advice) left the hospital.

He tweeted the next morning.

I always thought it was to dispell the rumors in the press about an overdose (what we know now to be true). It also doesn't look like a RT because no other tweeter is noted or quoted in it. Even a simple RT would have the original tweeters handle in it.

That's not to say a fan didn't tweet something similar or whatever.

I don't want to rehash the time line of his death. I just always thought the tweet was about muffling rumors in the press.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Prince wouldn't retweet. He'd copy and past someone else's comment (sometimes, even with their date and time) and post it, often without comment. Never mentioned WHO said it, either. .
I could never figure out why no one ever showed him how to do it correctly.

....and now, we get weird conspiracy theories due to that.

I don't know about y'all, but I can't stop watching the "Let's Go Crazy" clip on YouTube. I'm super stoked about the Syracuse video. my pre-order is in. It'll definitely be something I use to continue celebrating Prince around his birthday.

It was part of a fans tweet he tweeted the other part and then he posted the transformed part in a sentence of his own. In his own way of course not just a simple retweet.

What's the difference between a "simple retweet" and "simply copy pasting the sentence and posting it unattributed"?

Come to think of it, P did have a habit of doing things like that.

They are not at all alike.

One is a repost with (perhaps) your own comment. The other is someone named Prince who didn't know how Twitter worked and no one showed him how to do it.

I don't know what Prince knew or didn't know, but it is possible to know your death is coming without knowing exactly when and where. He clearly didn't know either as evidenced by the elevator and clothes on inside out, but he may have known he was ill (if he was). A doctor can tell you that you have cancer and give you 6 months to live, but the doctor can't give you a date and time AND you might live a lot longer (or shorter), than 6 months.

I love Prince, but he sucked at Twitter. He replied to one of my tweets once by just writing into it.

Or maybe he didn't suck at it. Tweeting that way would give him plausible deniability that he ever wrote something. Of course, he deleted the whole thing five minutes later, so … shrug lol

Happily, I screen-cap'd it in the nick of time. whew

So, they are very much alike then because the end result is damn near the same except the attribution.

"In his own way," of course.

hmmm ... good point, I don't hold with the point of view that he knew of his immenent death ( passing ). I'm gonna keep my point of view to myself what I believe but, I don't think he knew and I don't believe he had some form of terminal illness either ( I'll say that much )

I mean goosebumps?!

How... fucking tight rehearsed this band was.

Man! Prince, he deserved to be the star of the moment in 1984.

No one could do that on stage what he did there (the whole concert long).

Everything, the outfits, the dancing (of all bandmembers)... try to do it while plying guitar, keys, even Bobby Z had to swing.

I would not be able to play guitar with have a dead white fluffy furry animal on my shoulders, wearing that tight suit, on heels. biggrin

First, about Bobby - I loved that Prince had some inclination to want a standing drummer. The Linn totally made that happen for them.

I've always noticed some words painted on the stage to Wendy's left. I think it's PRINCE STOP HERE or similar, I assume if he ran out from quick change that he'd not run off the edge of the stage or something. They were pretty big letters, so I wonder what sorta mishaps happened in rehearsal. Or maybe it was just safety protocols in general.

There is a moment when Prince is in the middle of his solo, where the fan is on him, those white fluffy things are blowing in the wind, his face is looking like he has the biggest dick in the room, his pose is pure Rock Star PhD. That should've been the cover.

It's a second or two after this pic when he had his head tilted back a big, that pout on his lip like "after 90 shows, I still got 'em in the palm of my hand, and we're only 3 minutes into a two-hour show."

Like I said in another thread, even though he said about the show, "that tour almost killed me," and they only had six shows or so go to, and he was dead fucking tired of the whole shindig and could've just been phoning it in, he still got out there like it was the first show of the whole tour and every important person in the world was there to watch him do his thing. But nope, just a near-end-of-the-tour show in fucking Syracuse, New York. And he's on fucking fire.

The only sorta glue n' duct tape moment was when he came up out of the stage, holding a mic, then had to set it on the stage to ditch it in favor of the one in the mic stand. Why not just make that trap door bigger, or closer to the front of the stage so he could have his mic stand with him? Why not just hold the mic and put it on the stand himself. The quick kneel to get rid of the mic always felt ... inexpensive compared to anything and everything else. Like - y'all couldn't figure that one out???

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

That is so true! But I'm SO GLAD he did mine. At the time I thought he was just deleting my name. But I found out later he didn't know how to retweet.
