What makes a man wanna rule the world?
Make him man enough to say he's 50-50 girl What makes a man wanna curse and swear?
Then blame it on heaven 'cuz he's already there... Pimp rag, tootsie pop, and a cane
What makes a man wanna play guitar?
Same thing that makes him wanna be a star What makes him wanna see his name in lights?
It was the same thing that made Eve take the first bite... Pimp rag, tootsie pop, and a cane
It's an actual song in the way "Had U" is an actual song. [Edited 3/27/22 9:57am]

[Edited 3/27/22 9:57am] Yes its short and the lyrics are simple and to the point...but the musicianship is amazing, and its well produced...i dont need a song to be over three or four minutes, to love it.

The big surprise for me here is 'Life Can Be So Nice.' It never occurred to me that anyone could not like that song, much less hate it. Slammin' track. It sums up everything I love about the Revolution.

TrivialPursuit said: Make your own 10-12 song bad Prince record, using only officially released songs from the Warner recorded years, through 1996 (Chaos and Disorder being the end of the era). This includes b-sides, but not remixes. We can't delve into a Junior Vasquez, or all the takes on "Cream" and "Gett Off" or whoever mix to make a list.
π couldn't string 10 songs of his 2getehr that π think R " Bad"... would have trouble with 5

Almost agree with this....but Sexy MF, 7, & and God Created Woman are exceptions for me.
But most of these lists on this post are mind-boggling! Anotherloverholenyohead?? Life Can Be So Nice??? The Cross??? Superfunky??? Paisley Park??? All CLASSIC Prince songs for me.
Art Offical Age is a fantastic album.
Everyones tastes when it comes to Prince songs are as eclectic as the man himself!
Here is my bad Prince "album":

What ?! I'm shocked. )) Temptation (fantaaaaaastic song! Dirty spooky phat wild, uncategorisable, super weird within the context of the only song ever being recorded in Capitol Studios, with Eddie M on sax. Fantastic sax player. But somehow the production is loud and unbalanced. Maybe that's why it is not loved by some. The slowness of it is so dirty and un-pop-ish. Classic Prince to me. Needs more attention) Arms Of Orion (always had a serious weak spot for this one. Fits in perfectly on the album. I love that album btw. The song is well crafted, classic tune imho. Cheesy, but good cheese. It's just that for me, Sheena should've been replaced by Jill Jones or maybe even Kim Basinger, or maybe even Madonna... bash me.) Push (I don't hate it as much as most here. There are funky elements i really love, except for the rappin', true. Though the complex structure is positivily overproduced, i like that. Prince knows how to overproduce a song imho. Love the use of uncredited Clare Fisher strings over all this. Again, put headphones on, listen again, and forget the silly rappin', Tony M and Rosie. It's the beat that's pretty addictive.) My Name Is Prince (Worst Prince song?! Really? What a JAM, what an anti-radio egocentric pop thing or whatever this song is. Again; headphones! And try to figure out how the hell he made this... How did he even came up with this?! When I heard it for the first time on the radio i was blown away.. (although I never liked the album).) - all the rest i kinda agree with. - E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I've never understood the disdain for Ronnie, Talk to Russia. Of course it's no masterpiece, it's not meant to be. It's just Prince goofing off and having a good time, and I'm always up for some of that!

This is why I believe that Prince has the most diverse fanbase of any artist. His music was so diverse that whether you're a fan of funk, pop, rock, rap, synth-pop, jazz, R'n'B or whatever, he's got something for you. Unfortunately, that can also lead to a lot of people who consider themselves Prince fans (myself included) absolutely fucking hate some of his music that others like.

. You're right. And at the same time, I don't think there's any music in Prince's discography that I hate.
