I'm wondering what the point of putting footage recorded in SD onto a Blu-ray is. Have they invented a way to turn footage recorded on video into HD footage?

I agree, but i really enjoy the sound of the Benefit concert (1985.02.25) and the WDC version is one of the best.

yeah. The audio of it will be pretty great hopefully, the release will have a Atmos mix so can't wait to crack that up.

YES - I am a very happy camper right now. Looking at the remastered 2022 YouTube video made me feel like the 14 year old again who was rubbing his eyes past midnight watching this show on German television - this concert really got me hooked as Prince fan, it literally changed my life. And I guess there are many fellow orgers here who had the same experience. Let's face it, the Purple Rain era is when many of us became addicted.

And yes, I have this already - I taped it back in the day, bought the VHS, got it as a bootleg apparently ripped of a Japanes Laser Disc.. but so what, the quality of the video and sound was always mediocre.

I packed up my PR SDE with the DVD so did anyone compare the Youtube LGC video to what's on that DVD? Is it better?

Why do they never include Sheila E's opening set???? That would be a value add. And there are no official recordings of her Glamorous Life tour /PR opening set. That would be worth $150 for the set.

I agree. WIth what they had, it's a vast improvement over the original. Hell, even the VHS was an improvement over the original broadcast (which is on the YouTubes, and on my home cloud drive).

What you're calling a "book thing" (see arrow)looks more like a gatefold or some kind of holder for the CDs. Unless the CDs come with that tiny booklet in yellow circle

The masses only care about a very simplified and flat form of popular music, the kind of music that generates fast money.

But the money and courage to spend time on creating another valuable SDE (that we want) 

and that might gain some money depends on the will of the gods that don't excist.

It's also likely to get harder given the rising prices of just about everything and everywhere in the world.

We'll see. Hope I'm dead wrong about all this.

After the brilliant release of the SOTT SDE, I have become quite pessimistic about something exciting new. 

And I notice that I am certainly not alone.

Maybe, just maybe, the Prince estate is acting like a good bookpublisher from back in the day - have some big selling thrillers cross-subsidizing the more obscure poetry releases. So for every Purple Rain era release we get some SDE from another era...
