There are several analyses (that's plural), none agree.

His voice ruins his otherwise pretty OK 80's throwback music.

True.

Simply because the last 60/70 years, since POP was (re-)invented in the UK, then went over to the US through Rap and hip-hop.

Pop today remains popular, although i belive that pop music and rock music as we know it are way over its hights.

Nowadays what we get is some sort of US pop that has largely won over the UK pop scene.

The greatest singers all coming from the US or UK is also due to the English language being so popular as an international language since halfway last century.

Before that it was all french in the western world for instance.

Pop as we know it might change in the future to the Asian side, who knows.

India and china together alone are nearly half of the world population.

It's all very intersting.

Actually Pop and Rock as we know it in general is fairly very young when you come to think of it.

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

So much modern music has that autotuned, electronic vocal sound. And somehow it manages to be more electronic sounding than even quintessential 80s pop. This Is Not A Good Thing.
