Someone on Twitter pointed that a friend of theirs noted how Prince's Sign "O" the Times was grammatically incorrect.

The O and apostrophe - O' - is actually old English for "of the." It's not an abbreviation for "Of." It's "Of the." So 10 O'Clock is actually meant to be "10 of the clock."

So Sign O The Times, the way Prince wrote it on paper, is technically Sign Of The The Times.

It should be Sign O'Times, if he's saying, "it's a sign of the times."

The grammar Nazi jokingly "fixed" the logo.




It'd be funny if movies or whatever started doing that.

It was never an O followed by an apostrophe. It was always an O in parenthesis. Even in the liner notes.

Now,

'I' (Sign) + 'T' (Times)
