I love it. If he had used it on Parade it would be my favourite song on the album. So many fantastic songs he didn't release at the time. I too really really hope we get Parade deluxe this year.

I always thought it sounded like it could have been earmarked as potential Family track blah blah blah

I wonder who he was talking about Jill Jones. He describes her car and eyes to a T. He also wanted her to go by the name Elektra.

Talk about a mandella effect, I thought this was on Purple Rain deluxe for some odd reason. The boot must have leaked around then. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

one word "underrated" By everyone, Prince included... how this never got a release, even as a b side or a re-recording by a protege is genuinely baffling.

I love the track, but I think the Linn track is a bit flat and easily re-made with modern Linn samples. It doesn't have that next level shit Prince did with the drum machine. IMO.

This one became an INSTANT classic for me. I happened to hear this for the first time the same day I also heard "Coco Boys"* for the first time.
. Two of many, many reasons I chuckle hard** whenever I read or hear "there's a reason they were unreleased"***
. . . . . *I differentiate the outtake I first heard and the version released on SOTT Deluxe by the different spellings of "Coco/Cocoa"...I still love the "released" version--but Prince's scatting of the horn parts in "Coco Boys" is still one of my absolute favorite parts of any of his songs. And if it weren't for "Coco Boys" then I wouldn't have had the inspiration for my fictional band "ABCsandraD"****
. **"ch" (chuckle hard) doesn't have the same ring as "lol" I realize
. ***obviously there's a reason every unreleased song is unreleased--but "it wasn't release-worthy" isn't that reason as often as some like to assume
. **** "A Band Called Sandra Dee" abbreviated--for those of you still playing along, but perplexed. (Note that we started fictional, but have since evolved into a fictitious band. But all of the imaginary members are NATURALLY blond/blonde--none "otherwise") "3123...that's next door to where the party be..."
