Wall of Berlin Appreciation

Any love for this song? I've always gone back to this one. I like the stylings of the beginning and the lazy sort of rap Prince starts off with and absolutley love the drum focused beat. then it goes into guitar sort of hendrix santana mix for a sort of chorus( could be wrong) but i think it totally works out to be a solid tune. Is this a favorite 2 anyone else?

Love this one and Lotusflow3r as a whole. It’s really an enjoyable listen and seems like Prince was in a good place.

I like the way it starts, but I lose interest when it turns into a rock jam. I'll give it another listen...

Love the Lotus Flow3r album as a whole. Prince did some great production work there. Such an underrated album.

This song is easily in my Top 10 fave Prince tracks of all time. It's a clever metaphor and that guitar solo is WILD. In fact, I think he's got one other guitar under there too. I listen to it in the car all the time. Love it.

Yes he did. If he wasn't, he should have been nominated for the production on that.

Try the last song of the album = Elixer, forget about Bria and just listen to Prince.... love it!!
Sure I prefer Prince singing the song by himself at Montreux Jazz Festival too, but still...

It has some moments, specially when Prince tries to bring that Sade vibe

I only dislike those uptempo tracks trying to be hip.

Anyway, too bad that such a special psychedelic album was buried with MPLSound and Bria.

When PRINCE sang Elixir live it was a knee-weakening experience! lol

Love the song, but hate the lead in on the album. That classy restaurant music, 77 Beverly Park, just throws a wrench into the mix and destroys Lotusflower for me. Luckily I know that when I hit the 'next' button, "Wall of Berlin" is there for me.

I’ve said it here before but this would of been a great live track, he could of fleshed this out to be an unbelievable jam piece in a live setting .

Did he record Wall of Berlin the same day in 2004 as 10 or 11 other songs? which included Back 2 The Lotus, Colonized Mind, Love Like Jazz, Planet Earth, Guitar . See https://www.princevault.c..._Of_Berlin smile

the title track should have been on a Prince album. It's better than some tracks he did put on his own albums at the time.

I dig its playfullness and the organic, striped down production.
