When the Henderson Roadhaus was sold, the new owners didn't help with the internet security system needed to protect the valuable items on display. It was quite an argument and many were disappointed, with fingers pointed everywhere.
But in the end, the people behind the Prince Legacy Project had the best interests in mind. If the statue couldn't be protected, it could disappear.

They were talking about this when I went to see it this past summer. A business owner told me many in the town were unhappy with the statue being there. I wondered aloud why anyone would take issue with a such a lovely commemoration of our home state hero. If anything, it's helping the town by driving business to it. There's nothing else there worth seeing. The person I was with asked, "Is it because he's black?" The look on the store owner's face said it all. Henderson seems to be a little pocket of rednecks. Then they don't deserve it. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

There are black people living there. Saw a few going in and out of houses there. I don't think it brings that much business. It's a long drive, in relationship to everything else and there isn't anything else to hang out and spend money for. You drive through take a picture and leave unless you feel guilty and buy some sodas or something. Time keeps on slipping into the future...

This 'tribute' still gives me the chills. No wonder some were not happy. The intention was good, but the execution did not match. It reminds me of the Ronaldo works. .

Oh, come on! It's not nearly as bad as the Ronaldo one. Comparitively speaking, the Prince one looks like a high achievement. I like that the sculptor opted for the less familiar Rave-era look (I think he was referencing the Mill City poster, personally, or maybe The View '99 appearance). A friend of mine got to meet him when she first went to look at the statue and complimented him for choosing the Rave-era look, and he said, "No, it's actually the 1999 look." I think he was confused because that was Prince's look in the year 1999 but not in 1982 for the album 1999.

. That is the biggest oxymoron I read today. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Damn are you judgemental and no better than any "racist" . You are the exact same as the so called "racists" labeling an entire town. People like you ARE the problem.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

It kinda looks like someone couldn't make up their mind whether to do Prince or Rick James, so in the end compromised by doing both. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
