Well, I don't think the man would mind losing to Ms. Mitchell or Ms. Anderson.

Isn't this one of the categories that gets no airtime at the actual Grammys? Like best documentary or best children's album?

Still would be a nice touch to win it this time around. I don't know if I've ever seen as many amazing albums competing for Album Of The Year as I did that year. They were all deserving!

Not good enough. This deserves its own post.

SOTT Deluxe is the best (and largest) deluxe set I own out of all in my opinion.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I only remembered the winner, U2. Forgot that Michael and Whitney were also nominated (along with a trio of Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris).

Prince was pretty upset at losing, but it seems pretty obvious that with only one rock nominee against three black singers, the odds of U2 winning were very good. Heck, the country fans may have put Dolly's album ahead of Prince as well.

Yeah no. U2'S Joshua Tree had several era defining classic songs and was a worthy winner. Sign of the Times was brilliant but in terms of classic songs that touched popular culture, it just didn't hit in the same way.

Maybe ONLY in your world!

The album peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum FOUR MONTHS after its release! It also reached the top 10 in Austria, France, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the UK and number one in Switzerland. "Sign o' the Times", " U Got The Look" and "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" were ALL TOP 10 HITS on Billboard Hot 100 Following Prince's(r.i.p.) transitioning in 2016, the album re-entered the Billboard 200 at number 20.

NOW he's about to win his MUCH DESERVED overlooked well deserved grammy next year.

I will be SO PROUD!

CASE CLOSED!

Romeoblu

For me it's the greatest collection of music ever released.

It could possibly only be bettered by Parade deluxe.

Right. The Joshue Tree was and is one of the biggest and most influencial and successful 80s albums of that year, decade, and in all of rock. I like SOTT more, but there was no robbing to be had, unlike some other years
