Paisley Park Museum themed rooms

Now that the Lovesexy room is the Foundation Room and the Under the Cherry Moon/Graffiti Bridge rooms have become The Beautiful Collection Room, have these rooms been replaced? Also, how many themed rooms are there?

I believe the Lovesexy to The Foundation Room is a permanent change, but I think the shoe collection is just temporary. They have rooms for Diamonds & Pearls, Sign O' The Times, and Purple Rain.

Thank you. From looking at the photos the Shoe Collection room looks permanent, and isn't there an Emancipation room?

It does look like they spent a lot of time and money on the shoe collection, but they said it would only be on display through December. Time will tell. No Emancipation room. In the soundstage, they had different displays from different eras, Emancipation included, but there aren't separate rooms in the soundstage. They kind of did away with that, and now it's outfits from different time periods kind of lumped in together, a few cars, P&AM stage, etc.

The eautiful Collection (shoes) is scheduled to run through the end of 2022.

I hope it continues into 2022, planning to return once again in June.

It's interesting, the people who were and are running Paisley Park talk about honouring Prince's wishes and being authentically Prince, etc., yet one room has gone, the other changed. It also bothers me, when they say upstairs will stay off limits to the public, because it's considered his living area, yet staff are up there often.

Half is used as necessary office areas, as they had been when he was alive. BUT, no one is founcing in and out of his private areas for no purpose.

Because it's a museum, displays must change. It has to remain vital and interesting so people will pay to come back.

I don't think the themed rooms should change. Make the changes in the soundstage area.

You could also build out the Egg to be the changeable element.

I always found it odd with Paisley Park how Prince really wasn't into awards and stuff but platstered the walls with photos of himself and framed gold records and things. For someone who didn't like to "look back", he had a lot of monuments put up that memorialized his accomplishments. Not sure if the dedicated/themed rooms came before or after his death (I think before?) but it seems a little out of character to me.

What a crazy amazing life he led.

I guess I don't mind if they change the theme of the rooms. I just wish they would change what is on display more often. They have thousands of items, yet they keep the same outfits out for a year or more. The soundstage is underwhelming also. There is a ton of room in there to do whatever, but they only line the wall areas with items. Last time I was out there, they were doing some work on the outside of the Egg. Not sure what the plans are for that.

I wasn't referring to his living quarters.

Probably was more for the people coming in than himself. From the rest of the rooms we seen in the Carver County photos he had literally nothing on his walls.

I'm pretty sure the idea of the themed rooms was Prince's, and he had sort of mapped everything out before dying. I don't think anything had been done yet though. When the museum tours first opened, they said they followed Prince's notes as closely as possible. Stuff like wheelchair accessibility, restrooms, etc. were minor variations to get up to code.

I think when it comes to awards, regardless of what Prince might've said outwardly, he was proud of each award he got. Plus, as someone else noted, those kinds of things are somewhat expected for the visiting public.

Yeah, he posted pictures of himself in the Parade room when they were fixed up on Twitter.

The Egg would make a great merch building (or even a dining room). It would need to be connected to the building for safety and to avoid weather.
I think a glass-enclosed walkway would work and not take away from the shape of things.

Right now, it's the job of the estate to appraise Paisley/Egg as low as possible and bring up "deferred maintenace" (which was mostly done before it opened as a museum). The Egg is too iconic to be torn down; it will be repaired and used.
