Did we ever check out 'Michael Jackson - Thriller (2018) (25 Super Deluxe Edition)'? Did we even notice how much `improvement` the songs 'with...' bring to the SDE? It makes them look and sound dated... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Hell No! His musical legacy is fine…commercial success is about marketing/timing/tastes more than the actual music.
The Estate will have a hard enough time releasing all his ACTUAL music vs. trying to reproduce his music to meet trends. It will turnoff his Base and not generate hits.

My suggestion would be a biographical documentary movie based around Montreaux Jazz Festival 2009, with plenty of footage of him performing there in his mature prime, mixed with former band members and associates talking about him.
NO celebrity hangers-on who didn't really know him allowed .
On the DVD release, also include the complete shows from Montreux 2009, plus a CD boxset of the same.
Let his music and charisma speak for itself.

- Sort of like the The Current/Andrea Swanson podcasts... but with imagery you mean. I do agree though. A documentary with every new release SDE is doable. It could be a great addition to the whole. Well, we can all dream (on), can we... No one really knows what Mr. Howe is up to next... Kinda surprises me that Susan Rogers thinks Michael Howe is the best person out there to maintain the Vault material in California. She speaks high of him, praises him even... I can't say i have anything against him( personally), but we barely get any information. not even on how the matierial is being processed. Some info can't hurt no one. It can only makes us hopeful and happy, no ? So a documentary probably is out of the question. They are too cautious of saying or stating 'something'... -

. Well, if I had to choose between known or respected, I would surely choose respected. Curtis Mayfield is less known than Madonna, but the people who know him acknowledge him as one of the greats. . The thing that gets me frustrated about Prince´s legacy is that I know there are lots of musicians - from every genre - that respect him a lot, but there are still lots of people that see him only as a ´pop singer that made some success in the 80s´. Until the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for example, there were lots of people that didnt even know he could play guitar.

If we were to allow 'outside' people, I'd want Dave Grohl in there. No musical input, just interviews and such. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Which is why I continued buying his new music when I had stopped buying everyone else's. Changing with musical styles is fine when new musical styles are still good. But when they turn into a bunch of boring shit hop and neo stool, then changing with the new musical styles is called selling out.
I have no problem with not respecting his wishes. In later years, he changed into a stuffy person. I say release that old stuff in it's full, unscensored, nasty content. The more filthy and explicit, the better.
Well, as far as the little Miss Goodie Two Shoes is concerned, she is the one whose success influenced everyone to make adult contemporary which ended up killing funk so doing what she had done is the exact opposite of what should be done.
HELL naw! The last great thing they did was Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation". After that, they sold out to neo stool and became as boring and generic sounding as everyone else. Keep them as far away from Prince's music as possible. . If something even resembles current music these days even in the slightest way, I hate it with a passion. Hell, I didn't even buy Prince's last few albums because he, himself had sold out to the current sound on a lot of the tracks.
And those two shows are boring as hell and should have been taken off the air years ago. Hell, I hated "Star Search" back in the 1980s so I sure as hell hate "Idol" and "Voice" which are even more boring. If it ain't a battle of the bands trying to see who can throw down the hardest funk, I don't have time for it. Music is what makes my ass shake, not voices. You could have the best voice in the world but if there's no strong bass and drum driven music behind it, it is boring as hell. Andy is a four letter word.

I noticed that every week I see at least something about Bowie, Freddie Mercury or Beatles in media. A documentary, a new book, a movie, a tribute, a street art on somebody´s Instagram, a B-day celebration, etc. While with Prince I mostly see it on his fan pages. . Ok, here in Brasil, Prince wasnt popular since 87, but it´s amazing how these artists mentioned above are much more talked about than he is. I dont know if it´s only because of popularity, or if people are afraid of covering his music / using his image.
