Paisley Park

Is it accurate Paisley Park recording studios are still called state-of-the-art?

Specifically, have things been upgraded, since Dave Hampton did his thing way back in 2004?

I have an album from The Gorillaz "The Fall" that was recorded using an iPad. And (for what it is, which is kinda "techno") it sounds really good.

Billy Eillish (love her or hate her) recorded her debut album at home. I doubt she had the kind of equipment that Paisley Park has!

I think the whole notion of "state-of-the-art" has been redefined since the 80s. iPads and Macbooks are state-of-the-art. It's just a matter of getting the acoustics . . . that's where a studio is key.

Recording through a $99 interface with shotty preamps is WAY different than an actual analog console that costs over $150k... Going through all the analog gear is different than an iPad... with Paisley if it ever opens to the public... YOu go there beucase of who was there beofre.. To stand in the same spot he recorded BatDance is eerie..

Paisley Park studios are state-of-the-art TRUE recording studios, with full analog and digital capabilities.
Y'all can keep your Autotune, IOS/Android, phones and computerized BS.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Prince made computerized music at PP too. And some of his best, classic records were recorded on the iPads of the day (at PP or otherwise). Or did you think the shitty sonics of Dirty Mind were state of the art? Lol.

Right, it literally has different rooms for different instruments in it as well. Having visted I was suprised how spacious and comfortable it is in there.

Okay, cool. I just wondered, if it (sate-of-the-art) had become a tagline and was no longer correct, and things weren't great until Dave Hampton got involved. Besides, not every setup can be like Abbey Road.
