Amazing post^^^ Yeah, “Conversation with God” and “The Celestine Prophecy” were some of his fave books. Have read the latter but not the former yer, it’s really a dense & esoteric book, I’ll revisit it later. Prince was my introduction to the Akashic Records as well, and the concept of higher consciousness in general.

From Wikipedia: The Celestine Prophecy: An Adventure is a 1993 novel by James Redfield that discusses various psychological and spiritual ideas rooted in multiple ancient Eastern traditions and New Age spirituality. The main character undertakes a journey to find and understand a series of nine spiritual insights in an ancient manuscript in Peru. The book is a first-person narrative of the narrator's spiritual awakening as he goes through a transitional period of his life. It’s a good book, in the same vein as spirituality themed books by Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra & Don Miguel Ruiz et al. The storyline is only used as a way to illustrate the author’s spiritual teachings.

I absolutely love "The Rainbow Children"! That band was on fire and Prince seemed to be having a great time. I also get a kick out of seeing how much the lyrics upset a certain type of "fan".

Their rationale often appears more aggressively evangelical than the dude's lyrics they're so devastated by.

you might as well say 'you aint ready'.
for those dumbos amongst us, id like to hear from people how the album went deep.
im not someone ready to shoot those fans down btw, i like the album, but i fully admit, a good portion of it kind of goes over my head. or at least, doesnt resonate that immediately with me.

Well, technically The Rainbow Children was released on the NPG Music Club on Oct 16th and Retail on November 20 . So not 20 years yet! lol "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

A sum of it is New Age teachings intertwined with religious theology. A sprinkle here and there about racism and inequality as well. It is so well put together lyrically and made into a factional story...that could be a musical or a play actually.
Remenicent of Adam and Eve, a woman is 'tempted' by the furit of another and is "banished" from the land until the Wise One finds another mate.
If she could b Muse 2 the Pharoah,
The Wise One finds his queen
Love, like a rose in bloom
The people banished from the Nation hears this news and take it upon themselves to stop it
By this time I am thinking is he throwing shade about Mayte in this album?
Every time I watch the other people news
I assume this is the Wise One (Prince) and his new Muse (Mani) doing the work to teach the people about resisting temptation and following God.
We were always meant 2 b
Continuing to spread the word to the people across the land
2 all his good brothers the Wise One spoke highly of his Muse, because her Prince being quite happy with Mani
This is how it's gonna b
Prince + Mani + God = Holy Matrimony
They get married
This one I can take over my momma's house
Prince as The Wise One continues to express his love for his new wife
"We have the God-given right 2 run out of our colonies anyone who does not bow down 2 our law. Hear, hear?"
Here Prince talks about American colonism and expresses African American persons researching and learning about thier ancestral histories. He possibly was doing a lot of research on that subject and expresses alot of disdain about the plight of black persons histories being erased and treated like animals.
Don't let nobody bring u down
Accurate knowledge of Christ and the Father
Beyond this negative aspect, having God by your side will bring everlasting joy, and we should 'share the good news'.
In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
We need 2 come 2gether Come 2gether as ONE
Prince continues to express the love of God is very important and we should all bask in His glory.
I feel like the album is autobiographical honestly and he tries to spin a tale on things he was going through and thinking at the time. Very well done.

Wow!! You keep blowing my mind, mister  I’m no Christian, so some of the stuff have always been lost on me, they makes sense after you outlined them though. Superficially, I’ve always looked at TRC as LoveSexy 2.0, and while that maybe true in some sense, especially in how he showed enthusiasm about his renewed faith/spiritual enlightenment, they both differ in some subject contents. And I agree 100%, it does feel autobiographical even if the context is lost to the listener, there’s no denying that he made the music from a place of personal truth. I’d argue that TRC is a “gospel” album, but in the same non-traditional unorthodox way Prince have always approached music.

Great album, I wished the Wise One would be omitted though (I know I know, this is where the message is at, but musically I wish all these spoken words intros/outros would be gone...)

I try to forget it. The most disappointed I'd ever been with any Prince album or era and changed the way I looked at him forever. I came around to accepting him warts and all but it was rough.

I think this album is amazing musically and I love the jazzy vibe, but I don't pay too much attention to some of the whack lyrics. Some of them are just too "out there" for me, so I just enjoy the music.

You nailed it. He always spelled out his feelings/thoughts his entire career in his lyrics. It always amazes me how often some "fans" spend time around here guessing what he meant and applying their own opinions on his personal behavior or viewpoints: There is no mystery ... he told us if your "willing to do the work" to understand.

Facts. I heard the album plain as day since the beginning. Its about his relationship and newfound love for Jehovahs Witness. Although not until reading Mayte's book I gathered she was a "Banished One" because that album came out after their breakup and Mani fawning over Prince. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I love this album. Easily Prince Top 5 for me. I always felt like when Prince had an agenda with an album, I was going to like it. To me, it represented such a transformative era for Prince. It was such a different beast to NPS and Rave and it was the introduction, in a way, to the incredible ONA shows.
