Amazing post^^^

Yeah, “Conversation with God” and “The Celestine Prophecy” were some of his fave books. Have read the latter but not the former yer, it’s really a dense & esoteric book, I’ll revisit it later.

Prince was my introduction to the Akashic Records as well, and the concept of higher consciousness in general.

Yes there is a much larger conversation to be had about the entire album. This songs message hit me the most and not a subject I ever to this day hear many talk about. Why have we all kept our "family names" even though many did not come from a good place?
These names keep us tied to trauma because our histories have been erased and deleted...possibly only can be accessed through "the Akashic Records". This is why I am thankful for Ancestry DNA for example, as it at least gives us a link to each other now.

Each chapter is to be studied and analyzed. It was meant to be that way.

I have never read The Celestine Prophecy. What is that one about?

From Wikipedia:

The Celestine Prophecy: An Adventure is a 1993 novel by James Redfield that discusses various psychological and spiritual ideas rooted in multiple ancient Eastern traditions and New Age spirituality. The main character undertakes a journey to find and understand a series of nine spiritual insights in an ancient manuscript in Peru. The book is a first-person narrative of the narrator's spiritual awakening as he goes through a transitional period of his life.

It’s a good book, in the same vein as spirituality themed books by Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra & Don Miguel Ruiz et al. The storyline is only used as a way to illustrate the author’s spiritual teachings.

I absolutely love "The Rainbow Children"! That band was on fire and Prince seemed to be having a great time. I also get a kick out of seeing how much the lyrics upset a certain type of "fan".

Their rationale often appears more aggressively evangelical than the dude's lyrics they're so devastated by.

A sum of it is New Age teachings intertwined with religious theology. A sprinkle here and there about racism and inequality as well. It is so well put together lyrically and made into a factional story...that could be a musical or a play actually.

[quote]As prophesied, the Wise One and his woman were tempted by the Resistor. He, knowing full well the Wise One's love 4 God, assimilated the woman first and only. Quite naturally, chaos ensued and she and 5 others were banished from the rainbow.4ever. [quote]

Remenicent of Adam and Eve, a woman is 'tempted' by the furit of another and is "banished" from the land until the Wise One finds another mate.

If she could b Muse 2 the Pharoah,
There is nothing he wouldn't give her c
4 the future of the nation rests in her belly
And if the Proverbs of the 31 and verse 10
Becomes the verse she sings again and again
She might b Queen

The Wise One finds his queen

Love, like a rose in bloom
All of the Rainbow Children will feel it soon
2 the east, word traveled about this energy
Until it reached the Banished Ones
Who just wanted this love 2 cease

The people banished from the Nation hears this news and take it upon themselves to stop it

By this time I am thinking is he throwing shade about Mayte in this album?

Every time I watch the other people news
I c a false picture of myself, another one of u
They try 2 tell us what we want, what 2 believe
Didn't that happen in the Garden
When somebody spoke to Eve?

I assume this is the Wise One (Prince) and his new Muse (Mani) doing the work to teach the people about resisting temptation and following God.

We were always meant 2 b
In paradise eternally
B4 the truth I did not care
Now I feel it Everywhere

Continuing to spread the word to the people across the land

2 all his good brothers the Wise One spoke highly of his Muse, because her
love 4 the one true God was growing with every passing day.

Prince being quite happy with Mani

This is how it's gonna b
If u wanna b with me
Ain't no room 4 disagree
1+1+1 is 3

Prince + Mani + God = Holy Matrimony

They get married

This one I can take over my momma's house
And I don't have 2 worry what goes in and out her mouth
All she needs is a little gratuity
She don't like no beef, she just loves me 4 me
This one, She Loves Me 4 Me

Prince as The Wise One continues to express his love for his new wife

"We have the God-given right 2 run out of our colonies anyone who does not bow down 2 our law. Hear, hear?"

"Come on, come on keep it moving here. What's your name boy?"
"Abu Cah"
"Well it ain't now; it's Tom Lynch."

Here Prince talks about American colonism and expresses African American persons researching and learning about thier ancestral histories. He possibly was doing a lot of research on that subject and expresses alot of disdain about the plight of black persons histories being erased and treated like animals.

Don't let nobody bring u down

Accurate knowledge of Christ and the Father
Will bring the Everlasting Now
Join the party, make a sound
Share the truth, preach the good news
Don't let nobody bring u down
The Everlasting Now

Beyond this negative aspect, having God by your side will bring everlasting joy, and we should 'share the good news'.

In the name of the Father
In the name of the Son
We need 2 come 2gether
Come 2gether as ONE

Prince continues to express the love of God is very important and we should all bask in His glory.

I feel like the album is autobiographical honestly and he tries to spin a tale on things he was going through and thinking at the time. Very well done.

Wow!! You keep blowing my mind, mister

I’m no Christian, so some of the stuff have always been lost on me, they makes sense after you outlined them though. Superficially, I’ve always looked at TRC as LoveSexy 2.0, and while that maybe true in some sense, especially in how he showed enthusiasm about his renewed faith/spiritual enlightenment, they both differ in some subject contents. And I agree 100%, it does feel autobiographical even if the context is lost to the listener, there’s no denying that he made the music from a place of personal truth.

I’d argue that TRC is a “gospel” album, but in the same non-traditional unorthodox way Prince have always approached music.

Yes I feel this is his greatest 'ephiphany' since that album. He really dug deep in himself and delivered one of his top 5 albums and lyrically enlightening pieces in a long time. The music is even enjoyable with many textures, changes and psychedelic soundscapes.

From Family Name

Welcome. U have just accessed the Akashic Records Genetic Information Division. This program is required 4 those wishing 2 obtain a marriage blessing from The Kingdom. When u wish 2 begin this program, place ur right hand on the scanner and tightly clench up ur buttcheeks as u might feel a slight electrical shock. Please select the race history u desire. U have selected African-American. This is your history:

First of all, the term "black and white" is a fallacy. It simply is another way of saying "this or that".
Let's examine the term "this or that" in its ultimate form which is: "this" means the truth or "that which is resistant 2 it. When a minority realizes its similarities on a higher level- not just "black"- but PEOPLE OF COLOR, and higher still "INDIGENOUS", and even higher still, "FROM THE TRIBE OF.", and yet higher- the "RAINBOW CHILDREN".

When this understanding comes, the so-called minority becomes a majority in the wink of an eye. This action will cause a Reaction or Resistance. The source of this Resistance must b banished as it is in direct conflict with the initial action. It cannot be assimilated, 4 its very nature is resistance. In other words, ONE CANNOT SERVE 2 MASTERS. U r either "this" or "that" which is not "this".

This opening of Family Name helped me read Conversations With God, as I went to the library to discover what the Akashic Records were.
It took me on a whole journey that inspires me to this day. I believe he has read this book as well. I wish I still had the list of other books he recommended.

OIP.jvtSVA8ZnjxFosUHftm-rwHaJ4?pid=ImgDet&rs=1

The second part that is interesting is Prince explains minorites resistance to the majority (particulalrly African American persons), due to the nature of which they learn about their historical standings in America - reaction and resistance. There is powerful amount of sadness and confusion once you learn what has happened before and can halt the Universal Law of man, that is to be treated equally as others. Prince is saying here "You might say what you mad about...but you still got your family name"...one still has attatchment to his slave masteres name that is. So one cannot really be "freed" of the ties that bind when your name still directly connects you to such generational trauma.

"The source of this Resistance must b banished as it is in direct conflict with the initial action".

A powerful statement and a powerful tune.

You nailed it. He always spelled out his feelings/thoughts his entire career in his lyrics. It always amazes me how often some "fans" spend time around here guessing what he meant and applying their own opinions on his personal behavior or viewpoints: There is no mystery ... he told us if your "willing to do the work" to understand.

Facts. I heard the album plain as day since the beginning. Its about his relationship and newfound love for Jehovahs Witness. Although not until reading Mayte's book I gathered she was a "Banished One" because that album came out after their breakup and Mani fawning over Prince.

I love this album. Easily Prince Top 5 for me. I always felt like when Prince had an agenda with an album, I was going to like it. To me, it represented such a transformative era for Prince. It was such a different beast to NPS and Rave and it was the introduction, in a way, to the incredible ONA shows.
