Prince's most poetic line to you? I'm talking about a SINGLE line that hits you deep. After 40 years of being a fan, it all comes down to one for me:
"I guess I should've known/by the way you parked your car sideways/ that it wouldn't last."

I can't think of most poetic right off the bat. But there's one that stuck with me from the first listen. Whisper a question/With my body I'll scream a reply I just love that line

This one comes to mind: “Avalanche” Like the snow coming down the mountain That landed on Wounded Knee Nobody wants to take the weight The responsibility Really the whole lyric is just a perfect build of history and metaphor. By the time this refrain comes along, your gut has been fully punched.

'All the flowers that you planted, Mama, in the backyard, All died when you went away.' That one still hits hard - poignantly expressive and revealing, yet so concise.

2 words falling between the drops, and the moans of his condition…holding someone is truly believing, there’s joy in repetition

The whole of "Joy In Repetition." Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

"If I was your one and only friend, would you run to me if somebody hurt you? Even if that somebody was me?" "Love's too weak to define..." "Flying above all fears. And I haven't seen any tears; not lately. And I don't wanna land; not even 'maybe'."

I concur with the OP that the opening of LRC is his greatest piece of poetry. It packs an entire short story into a few lines. Even Bob Dylan would have been proud to write those lines. On a philosophical level, I think there’s another few lines for me. “It’s easy to say I love you / but it’s harder to forgive.” This is a profound idea that is also incredibly true. And as a prophetic voice, one more: “systematic overthrow of the underclass / Hollywood conjures images of the past.” If only Prince had kept up this kind of critique in subsequent albums. Unlike a lot of his other, especially later rants, this one has no BS in it. No generalized “problems” or half baked rants or jumbled metaphors for decay. It’s specific, it’s strong, it’s frightening and it seems truer now than thirty plus years ago.

And while it's not overly romantic, I always thought, "I can deal with a sucker if he's in your mouth, but I can't deal with insincere" was excellent. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
