Why can't we just go back to 1984? Wanna know why? Because back then they lied to us. They told us "why cant we just dance..why cant we just dance". dance did not or would not ever take the place of violence, beef settlement etc. Kids in New York never ran out in the streets to dance to Fame. The eighties were just the hippy idealism of the sixites except more sterile, cleaned, but vapid and empty. Everybody lied and was full-o-shit. The music and its message were lies. We Are The World, Hands Across, Do They KNow Its Xmas...yeah right. Maybe for a heartbeat there was such a thing as Uptown but in actuality all it really ever was was a DMZ. edit:so actually we dont need to go back to 1984 because we never left. I've laways been the one to argue "leave him alone, he's happy" ect. And i'm sure he is, but now I just don't know what to make of him.
