If it is Parade, PARIS or Yokohama are the dvd’s we need. Detroit is cool but eh. I’ll take Detroit if it’s the full version and not the edit

Cool BUT, if you're choosing which album gets a deluxe release next but you can only have the DVD, what album are you picking?

Lovesexy/Black Album Deluxe - including dvds or blurays with the Lovesexy show we all know well (in the correct order and including the full interlude/alternate angles would be a nice bonus) PLUS the FULL CAMDEN AFTERSHOW....in surround sound...at least the main show in surround as that is what they did at the shows for this tour....

Parade partly due to the fact it was shot on film (so i believe) which means a full HD blu-ray rather than a DVD, If Musicology has an HD source that would be wonderful too that live version of DMSR with the time stamp is FIYAH

he might have better luck if he was drummin with his Dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Purple Rain dagnabbit! They need to go back to the drawing board and release a SuperDeluxe Purple Rain with a LEGIT concert blu-ray.

Inarguably his biggest album, with a tour that was broadcast on television, yet that concert video they released in 2017 was some of the most heinous shit I've ever seen.

I don't believe that there isn't some way to take the elements from any of the concerts recorded from that era and release it in HD. If I can watch crystal clear Little Rascals episodes produced in 1930, then I should be able to watch HD Prince & The Revolution from 1985.

Answer: film vs video.

.

You can (re-)digitize old films with a high resolution. The only way to get "HD" (high definition) videos from SD (standard definition) videos is to upscale them, which can be done with more or less complex algorithms. I'm pretty sure we'll get to a point in the future where we'll get decent-looking "HD" videos from old (SD) videos, using machine learning, but we're not quite there yet, even if some of the current state-of-the-art algorithms are starting to produce impressive results.

There is that official Japanese laserdisc of Prince & The Revolution. I recall them playing "Mutiny" during their set. Already put together and audio mixed, but rare AF.

PARADE

If they shot that in film That's a dream come true. Need to see the full setlist too. Not the hit n run version.

I'd like to see a decent quality Purple Rain concert too, then Lovesexy.

As for the main Lovesexy show, yes this would be the primary candidate but as we have a decent proshot record of it, it’s less a priority than those we don’t for me. But sure, if you’re cheating by chucking in after shows from that era then you win. 😂

Parade tour for me due to the sheer energy and funk of it.

Parade, but something besides Cobo Hall. Stockholm or Paris would be great (especailly the latter because of "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night").

Backup would be Lovesexy, but something besides Dortmund.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Me personally… I’m most intrigued about the musicology to 3121 period. This was a highly creative period for Prince with tracks being used for multiple albums, as well as the unearthed 3121 movie

The only officially released Prince and the Revolution Laserdisc, Japanese or otherwise is the Prince And The Revolution: Live show from the Purple Rain tour, which doesn't contain Mutiny.

Perhaps you are thinking of the Sheila E Romance 1600 Live release, which features Prince and the Revolution performing A Love Bizarre and which was officially released including a Japanese only Laserdisc.

No I know Sheila's show. Because those were both on VHS.

I'd love for Parade also, but if based purely on a live DVD, give me the Park Sessions from 94'-96' with the Gold Album, and I'd be a happy camper. Had those boots for years, but a clean mastered version of those great sessions would be killer!

Lovesexy has always been one of my favorite albums. And I saw the Lovesexy tour, so it holds a special place in my heart. When I got a fuzzy copy of the Dortmund show years ago I was in heaven...

But over time much of my initial enthusiasm for that show has waned. It's over-produced. While it does admittedly have lots of energy, it's too choreographed, is lacking in spontaneity, and is more about spectacle than the music. And I hate the arrangments of many of the songs. For example, horns and "When Doves Cry" should never go together.

So Lovesexy would not be anywhere near the top of my list.

WDC/La La La, He He Hee was a brilliant mashup!

But, then, if you only heard it on your fuzzy copy, i can understand the frustration.

Anything please. Loved the 1999 live DVD. Loved the SOTT New Years Eve DVD. Loved the W2A DVD. Lets face it, Pince rocked live. That's why we all kept going to his concerts. Give us all you got!

I saw the Lovesexy tour. Meaning in-person (in Philly, to be exact).

So I heard WDC with horns live in-person. It was terrible. What makes the album version of that song so genuis is its starkness. When you start layering crap into the arrangement, it loses its magic.
