This is one of my least favorite Prince tracks ever. Prince has the ability to do the best pure-pop ever. He also has the ability to kick out crap-pop like this without batting an eyelash. never liked this song never will.

Alot of people totally misunderstood the meaning of this song.Because of it's racy title and sexy video, people assumed that it was just another Prince sex song.I remember when it premiered on one of our local radio stations, the DJ says "There's Prince being nasty again, but you gotta love him,he's just a nasty man".

The song is actually about motivation and believing in yourself.

I think Prince just gave the song a racy title so people would think it's suggestive, creating a little controversy. The word "cream" sounds alot more inviting than, say,"Strive".

I will admit I'm glad he put out "Cream" when he did. Cos lord knows if it came out now it would be called "Strive"

Bop is not exactly a word. At least, it doesn't make a lot of sense, in this context. Why doesn't he just invent new words like Shakespeare. Besides, he could have used Cream - you won't flop. Actually, he wrote 'Cream' around the time of the Ribs story. So, maybe that's why he didn't use the flop line

Nothing's wrong. Has a bit of the arrogance that's fun to see in Prince sometimes. The Arsenio performance was hot, but other live performances have been kinda lame IMHO.

Sorry if someone already mentioned this.

I loved the version of Cream Prince did on the Arsenio Hall show back in 91'. He just looked like he had the audience in the palm of his hand and knew it.

Too Funky!!!

It's a cool track, I just heard it too many times. I still
want to listen to it now and again but when I put it on I
am already bored with it again. It did get over-played.
But that in itself is testament to the fact that it is in
fact a brilliant little song.

It always does remind me of "Shake" though.
