what era was the best for prince on guitar?

i realised that for me, i think he peaked as a guitar player in the mid 90s with that final version of the 90s NPG band, even though idk if i liked that symbol guitar sound that much.

but he had some great solos in this phase - e.g. eye hate u, one of us. and the undertaker, was maybe the best example of him doing a hendrix/band of gypsys type of thing. i think he tried to get quite hendrixy again in that final phase with the hit n run tour, and it was nice to see him doing a power trio/quartet format after having big bands for so long, but idk if that particular band was the best for what he was trying to do there.

i dont think he ever stopped being good on guitar, but in terms of a 'prince sound', i think he started to try and move away from that around 96 or so, and then tried to come back to it a little bit, when he started using his old hohner guitar again later on.

basically, i think he did seem to get more accomplished in the final years after TRC, where he seemed out to make sure people knew he was a first rate musician above all else (eg the performance of while my guitar...), and id say mission accomplished, but idk if it had that distinct tone he used to have.

anyone else feel the same? or is lotus flower really the peak prince guitar album?

Probably like 3 months ago. It's sorta the same Rolodex of Q&A w/ this one.

"eye don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r."
