Black Music goes deep purple, through purple rain and purple haze As we shift the #BlackMusicSunday color palette from last week’s shades of blue to purple and its many shades, from violet to lavender, I doubt that anyone would fail to think immediately of Prince’s “Purple Rain” and Jimi Hendrix’ “Purple Haze,” tunes that have made music history and received much acclaim. Purple appears only rarely in nature. That’s partly why the color has long historical associations with royalty, as well as with imagination, mystery, and spirituality. In keeping with the royal naming traditions for Black musicians, I’ll open today’s edition with our Prince. Fittingly, Prince’s official website places his life story under the header “Born Into Royalty.” Continued https://m.dailykos.com/st...urple-haze |

Well, that's not true. So there goes that theory.
Purple was considered royal because the dye was hard to manufacture. The wealthiest could afford to have the expensive elements sourced for the color.
As far as your "associated with mystery.." etc, stop reading Wikipedia for everything. Betcha $10 that's where you got that from.

Huh? Are you talking to me or the person who wrote the article? Coz all I did was post a portion of the article and the rest you could read by clicking the link, hopefully I did it right. [Edited 8/22/21 11:37am] |

The link is fine. I was making comments on how purple is mysterious or whatever. I should've taken out "your" and put "they" or something.
Ya know, sometimes these days folks who write articles don't do a shit's worth of homework, on anything, or stick to Wikipedia for information. Just a general annoyance of mine; nothing to do with you. My bad.

Ok but I do agree with what you said, purple has been used throughout history. |
