Wow, forgot it was recorded way back in 1985...

"4 The Tears In Your Eyes was released as the sixth track on the compilation album We Are The World, intended to raise money for famine relief efforts in Africa.

In 1993, an alternate recording (taken from the recording of the song’s video) was included as the 19th track (the first of two previously-unreleased tracks) on The B-Sides compilation (included as the third and final disc on The Hits / The B-Sides).

4 The Tears In Your Eyes was initially recorded during the soundcheck of the Purple Rain Tour show on 1 February 1985 at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Basic tracking for the version released on the We Are The World album took place the next day, 2 February 1985, on a day off of the tour.

The video version, the audio of which was released in 1993 on The Hits / The B-Sides, was recorded on 4 June 1985 at S.I.R., Los Angeles, California, and premiered on 13 July 1985 during the world-wide Live Aid event.

The song Hello alludes to the recording of this song in lieu of participating in the all-star recording of the song We Are The World, stating: "I told them that I didn’t want to sing / but I'd gladly write a song instead"."

Love the original version on “We Are The World”. Wanted to post when the anniversary of his death fell on Easter Sunday in 2019. Couldn’t do it because of the falseness of the lyric “He changed stone to bread with one touch of His Hand”. That was definitely something Jesus *could* do, but didn’t...

OldFriends4Sal e	I love it today and love it then I wish he would have pulled another Rude Boy move and released a 1 off LP with Dance Electric on one side and the full band version of 4 the Tears In Your Eyes on the other I love the rendition(s) performed on the Purple Rain tour
