This might be true for Prince (?), but the fact that a concert is displayed on big screens doesn't mean it has officially been recorded and archived.
It seems Prince recorded everything he could. We know he liked to watch his own performances for improvement, and he began with the one camera set-up quite early in his career (if not from the beginning?), so I'm pretty sure he took advantage of the direct multicam setting for big screens when he had one: video tape was cheap, and then digital made it all the more easier.
Tape was cheap, i saw the recording on screen with many of his concerts and it actually looked better than anything that he would release on video and it was close up, and you could see the real colours and Prince looked amazing on teh screens. Prince 2010 Good Luck for Future & Tour |

He also recorded almost all rehearsals straight from the beginning. If those are still in The Vault or not I can't say. |
