W2A Packaging

For those of you who wanted and were able to afford confused the Welcome 2 America Deluxe edition, what are your thoughts on the packaging? I believe that it is really well done.

I feel that it was done wonderfully. Nothing feels 'cheap' to me here and the slots for the CD and bluray are way better than what was done with the SOTT deluxe (half of the CDs in that were either halfway down below the bottom of the slot or halfway out the top causing some very minor scratching to the discs).

It's beautiful, but the only reason I bought it was the blu-ray. Had I been able to purchase the individual CD, LP AND still obtain the BD, either separately or as a 2nd disc with the CD, I would have skipped the box set. The booklet is nice but the rest of the ephemera is wasted on me.

That's a pretty expensive blu-ray then.
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

Yes it is. I would be much happier paying $35 for the vinyl, $15 for the CD and $25 for the blu-ray ($75 or less with sale prices) and missing out on the rest. I would be pissed with no booklet because EVERY release should have the liner notes, but I hate paying extra to get all the recordings so it would be a much better option for me. I bought the vinyl & CD editions of P&M83 & Originals and skipped out on the deluxe. They hooked me this time with the blu.

It’s great. Have no interest in vinyl though but needed the BluRay so I just turfed the first vinyl out and made a clock out of the one sided one and chucked the cover and other guff out so I can fit the card holders on my CD shelf.

Same here. I"m not into collecting vinyl and never would have bought this if I hadn't been excited for the blu-ray.

A lot of fluff.
I wish they do Prince more Justice by not Hiding the live recordings in the expensive and big boxes.
