Strongest Three Album Sequence?

Listened to "Symbol / Come / Gold Experience" back-to-back-to-back for the first time ever and it was pretty mind blowing. Afterwards, it occured to me that this might be the strongest three albums in a row he ever made.

Now, yeah, I now see the Black Album technically was released in between, so perhaps my statement is flawed. Oh well.

But now I want to know what you think are his strongest 3 albums in a row and why?

Parade / SOTT / Black

If Black doesn't count, ATWIAD / Parade / SOTT.

Rainbow Children, Musicology and 3121. I realize I am skipping two jazz albums and NPGMC releases, but nothing compares to these 3 commercial releases, the bands and the live performances during this period.

I think Prince is one the very few geniuses who had an awesome 6 records run:

1999 - Purple Rain - ATWIAD - Parade - SOTT - Lovesexy

Couldn't think of any other artists who had so many great and also diverse records in such a short time span...

Truly blessed....

If we're going to do this, then we shouldn't just pick three random albums, but three albums that are thematically linked, in other words, form a trilogy and then Around the World In a Day/Parade/Sign O 'the Times is the most obvious choice. When he made Lovesexy, he was in a different mindset and you can't seperate Lovesexy from the Black Album. They belong together like day and night.
Dirty Mind/Controversy/1999 is also a perfect trilogy.
Or Musicology/3121/Planet Earth, but I'm not very fond of the last one.

Bob Dylan:
Freewheeling/The Times They Are a Changing/Another Side/Bringing It All Back Home/Highway 61 Revisited/Blonde On Blonde. That's another great 6 records run. And in a shorter time span!

Yes, it *is*, imo. I've always thought this was the case.

I'm glad to see someone shares my enthusiasm for these ones!! It's not that they are necessarily his greatest albums but to me he never landed three in a row as brilliantly. If I had to pick a second three, I'd probably go with the most popular one so far: Parade / SOTT / Lovesexy, even though Lovesexy is not on the level of the other two (incredible first side, so-so side two, IMO).
