This one is gonna trigger you lot big time.

The album is crap and 23 track long according to the reviewer.

“A gruelling 23-track odyssey of farcical self-indulgence”

I genuinely don't think he actually listened to it. At all. He doesn't mention anything about any individual song on it. Doesn't say what it sounds like. Doesn't even know how many songs are on it.

And, I know for a fact, that he wouldn't be the first reviewer for the Irish Times to review something without actually hearing/seeing it.

He does briefly mention 1000 light years and Stand up and B strong but doesn’t even seem to be aware that the latter is a cover. Makes no sense not to mention that if he knew. I don’t have a problem with him or anyone else hating the album but there’s more red flags in that article about his journalist integrity than at a Chinese pro government march.

the tone of the review makes it sounds like the writer takes the estate releases as some kind of personal vendetta by the estate against them.

so the writer must be an orger lol

The reviewer can be reached on Twitter at @swench if anyone wants to thank him for the review.

I'm still not sure if he actually listened to the album though. I mean, I could post a review of the new Doja Cat album, for example. I've never heard it. In fact, I've never heard any of her music before that I'm aware of. But I bet it would be more convincing than this one in the Irish Times.

Welcome 2 America is neither 'bloated', nor twenty-three tracks long. He hasn't even listened to the album properly - just lazily fired off a rant of his pre-existing opinions.

This review(er) reminds me of the bad days of 1996 onwards when every Irish/British reviewer hated everything Prince did. Seems so dated in its approach and vitriol.
