I've seen the footage of them before on YouTube and they looked high as fuck when presenting the award with Vanity.

That's a funny story. At least it had a happy ending years later.....I always wondered what went through P's mind when he ran into Vanity onstage.

.

Same!

.

I also like that they said "Fuck your rules!" I love Prince... he's been with me since 1979 (didn't pick up on his 1st album until later). But that "don't talk to me" stuff is bullshit. If you don't want people talking to you, stay home.

.

It seems that by the time their second meeting came 'round, Prince was a bit more humble and mature. I don't believe for one second that he'd forgotten.

.

All that said, this is just another one of the many things in the mix that made Prince the once-in-a-lifetime artist that he was for us.

Yeah this is not the first story of artists being told not to look at him. Richard Marx told a similar story about when he was recording his second or third album and prince was in the same studio complex and baby face was there and others, so Prince's people went to many and told them "you can't look at him" Richard was like "oh hell F no, I'm getting in his face when I see him", turned out later on Prince approached Richard and they met and spoke for a minute barely. Also when the band a-ha recorded their fifth album it was at PP studios and they were told stay away he's working etc...no talking no eye contact 😂. They actually didn't meet him but their keyboard player went to the bathroom and wrote "prince was here" in small letters next to the urinal but really low on the wall.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
