Why wasn't Adore featured in the Sign of the Times movie?

Does anyone have any insight based on any interviews you've heard or books you've read? I've always been curious about this....thanks....

I don't believe it was played live on the Sign O' The Times tour, for sure not regularly. That might have something to do with it.

Not funky enough for the pacing/rythm of the movie.

Just like Starfish and Coffee.

Yet "Slow Love" dragged on forever and a day.

He should've performed the whole album the way they were originally rehearsing it.

Yea you could have either replaced Slow Love with it or sliced it in somehow with the "Forever in My Life/IT" part that went on too long...or eliminated or shortened the instrumental jams/drum solos (which were also too long).

Starfish and Coffee just had no place in the story - but Adore fits in perfectly as speaking to the love story theme....

I still like ending with the power of "The Cross" and the montage of scenes, etc. but I think getting an awesome performance of Adore into the movie would have been a fantastic addition. If he was trying to win back his black audience, leaving the "Black National Anthem", a song he specifically write to win back his black audience, out of the movie that was used to take the place of a US tour - is a very strange move indeed.

I agree it could have replaced Slow Love, on the paper.
IIRC Slow Love lasts only like 5 minutes,
Adore was longer and surely was too powerful of a track to NOT end a concert.
And that wasn't the message Prince wanted of the movie.
Adore would have distracted too much the audience from the message.

I love the movie, but my favourite tracks from SOTT are Adore and Starfish, so the first viewing I felt cheated!

Just like in ONA live : my favourite tracks from Rainbow Children are Last December and She Loves Me 4 Me, and he didn't play it.
Maybe, again, too powerful to be played live.

Because it wasn't played. Simple as that.
If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am.

How great is it to see it performed on the NYE show with Miles?? One of the absolute highlights of the whole set!
