I Hate U Court room scene problematic? cheesy? I have read some reviews where journalists call the courtroom part of I Hate U "problematic and cheesy.what is your opinion about it? For me that part and guitar solo are the highlights. The way Prince was singing was simply amazing during that part.

Which journalists? Sadly in 2021, the line between "interneter who writes articles for obscure sites" and "journalists" are all but blurred lol

Cheesy, sleazy, problematic, but it's emotionally authentic. I vote a big yes.

That part of the track is absolute perfection, well exectued, just like the rest of the track. Cheesy lol, ridiculous. If there is any doubt as to what Prince was feeling with the lyrics, all one has to do is listen to the music. That guitar solo especially, chaotic, angry, frustrated, etc, only Prince could deliver something like this. I like it because of how intense the singing gets, so it makes a nice climax (ha) for the song. On the other hand, there's something about the lyrics on The Gold Experience in particular that makes me cringe a little. I'm 41, so it's not so much about being "problematic" in the modern/woke sense, as being...kind of dorky? There's "P Control", the "Endorphinmachine", the dolphins with the chopped off fins, "Gold", and even "Shy", it's very earnest and blunt and a little overbaked.

I think it works for the song. The only time that style didn't work is on the song Tambourine. That was and is cheesy. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

It's both. | |

are you guys referring to the line “I’m gonna cover your ass with this sheet….and I want you to pump your hips like you used to…and baby, you better stay on the beat”? That’s the only part that might offend some people.
