From the tracks played in the podcast:

Check the Record pops hard...interesting though that in interviews it has been said there is no guitar solo - that is criminal - this song screams for a guitar solo...may have been part of the unfinished business keeping it in the vault.

Same Page - new appreciation for this song for some reason...

Hot Summer - same take on this song as before - doesn't do much for me - kind of a skipper - not awful but just standard stuff.

1000 Light Years - sounds like it will be fantastic - waiting to hear more.

Rin Tin - definitely different - waiting to hear more but so far interesting...

Yes - upbeat - great vocals and harmonies - can't wait to hear more

"Stand Up and Be Strong" - From what I heard in the background, he has written some new lyrics for it - he is using some verses from the original and then adding some new ones of his own....things like "when they lie to your face put them in their place" - that is definitely not on the Soul Asylum versions that I have heard....

Leaving out the rest but overall it will be interesting to hear this in its entirety - looking forward to it...we need new music now more than ever it seems.

First episode of the Welcome 2 America podcast was a joy to listen to. No over-hyped stories or talk about who inspired songs or what influence they "provided" from The Revolution. No passive/aggressive anger moments or anything shady. The best part is the humility and the honor felt from being a part of the process from Shelby, Liv, Elisa, Chris and Tal without anyone feeling slighted by any of it. Especially loved hearing Shelby, Liv, and Elisa speak about their experiences. They worked with him longer than The Revolution did, and not once did any of the ladies make the narrrative about them. Very much looking forward to hearing from Morris Hayes on the upcoming episodes.

Agreed. The humility and grace is refreshing. And it's a damn good album to boot.

Gotta love the insecurity of Prince famz who cannot stand any criticism.

Your insecurity is showing that someone doesn't agree with your criticism of the podcast. Get out of your feelings.

Prince was familiar with Jack DeJohnette. This warms my heart, somehow.

Forty minutes of mindnumbingly boring and trivial non-"stories". Told as if these were exciting and worldchanging events. Back-up singers rehearse! People stay in hotels! At one point Andrea Swensson urges them to tell the wild stories from the hotel and there is nothing. Yet everybody sounds incomprehensibly excited.

.

And next week: politics! Ooh boy...

I'm not really sure what you were expecting.

He's out & out whinger. If he'd done purple rain from 96 onwards he'd call it crap. Bit pathetic but upto 95 he likes & everything after he rates as hot dumpster fire. He not even need to listen it. It's automatic.

Yes, that part was cool. I would love to have listened to that trio jam with Chris Coleman and Tal Winkenfeld too.

Great story of the Montreux 2009 Hotel. He was in a special place back then.

Observation: I listened to Dr. West a couple of times in interviews and I often hear him do a lot of name dropping and refering to well known people. He appears to enjoy that a lot.
I reckon he is a force on his own enough.

The podcasts aren't produced for The Current anymore? I really liked their transcripts of the precious series, but I could not find them on their site for this series.
