***Beverley Knight talks about Prince & The Black Album***

Great to hear an established artist talking with the enthusiasm of a fan!

Beverley Knight has been ...ing Prince, The Black Album and her early career.

Part 2 her interview hints at more behind the scenes stories.

Great show. Looking forward to Part Two. I've met Beverley twice & we chatted about Prince both times. I met her at a Rahsaan Patterson & a Grace Jones gig. She's lovely & gracious & really friendly. Her 2002 song Same (As I Ever Was) is a great tribute to him. Pure Minneapolis funk. 💜

I don't know why for the life of me why Beverly Knight is not bigger than she is. The woman can sing right there with the greats and she's also a genuine person. I worked at the SBE in London years ago and she played there. She was so nice and had no pretense about her.

I'm looking forward to hearing this.

I was at Indigo2 when Prince surprised her on stage. She clearly didn’t know he was coming on - and you could see her sheer joy at the opportunity to jam with Prince.

I saw her at the Indigo, I remember her reading the offstage signage and hestitatingly saying "Welcome to the .... three ... one ... two ... one." I think she had a minblock on thirty one twenty one. Great show though, but you were always hoping for Prince.

She’s a very talented lady. The first time I heard her vocals was when she appeared on a Jamiroquai song.I,too, wonder why she didn’t become a bigger star.

She also toured with Jamiroquai as a backing vocalist - she appears on one of his live DVDs. T

ah yes... my favorite Prince album. Hand down. Fun to hear people talk about it with the enthusiasm and the superfandom it caused.

Not a bigger star because she isn't gimmicky

I remember, I picked up one of her CDs many years ago, "Prodigal Sista."

On the very last page of the booklet, it says something like:

"prince, I knew you'd make it back."

The album is also bookended with, what seems to be a reference to the end of "Darling Nikki."

Yeah, the backwards message that says: "Hello, how are you?..."

I thought that was pretty cool. cool

Part 2 of her interview just went live - she talks about meeting Prince for the first time, and how she came to be on the bill for 21 Nights at the O2.

Comes across as a really genuine person, and a mega-fan to boot.

Enjoyed listening to this. Link above.

I just realized that my indigo show I attended of The 10th was actually the show she discusses here. Extra Fun smile
