Yeah. I kind of get why people like it but the cover came off like stuff people doodle on their Mead spiral notebooks in high school with drying up magic markers after smoking a joint. Which is definitely part of it's charm so don't get me wrong. Just never floated my boat. Not sure what I would have done differently tbh and it's not objectively bad or anything.

I didn't like the 1999 cover at first, having just come aboard with Purple Rain (gimme a break, I was 13). But that soon changed. I like how it kind of says, "come take a look into my weird and twisted world."

Also it's significant that it's the first cover upon which Prince himself did not appear; it's not the man leading you to the music, it's the music leading you to the man.

PRINCE: the only man who could wear high heels and makeup and STILL steal your woman!

Best: Sign O The Times and 1999
Honorable mention: Come (it’s cool, stfu)

Worst: almost all of them. Dude is the greatest artist of all time, but damn, most of his artwork was absolutely brutal. So much horrible photoshop.
