Prince's best and worst album covers? Princes best is of course the stunning Diamonds & Pearl's followed closely by the Purple Rain cover which is just iconic cuz appolonia in doorway glowing in the aftersex from Prince showing her 23 positions Worst is Lovesexy by far ...the baked light skinned vampire look was played out by 1988 and hip hop was taking over...what say u is the best & worst? | |

the Lovesexy cover. Hip Hop had nothing to do with Prince. Why hip hop? There are so many other genre of music, why connect it to Hip Hop. The album music was nothing close to Hip Hop. It was uniquely Prince
. I think it's a beautiful cover. I appreciate it so much more than I did before

No love for Dirty Mind? That photograph is so powerful to me. Prince's seething look, the way it glows, the raw bed spring. Anyway, fave is that or Sign. Plenty of others I like - Around the World, Parade, The Rainbow Children, 3121, Art Official, the Hit n Runs. Even 1999. So crude, but you know Prince made that himself (right?), so it's his most personal. I remember being shocked as a kid that someone would put a penis on an album cover. Least favorite: Musicology. |

Least favourite: Musicology. We could have had a painting by Monet, Turner, or Bob Ross.. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

Steve Park seems like a nice guy, but his album covers are not to my taste. Unsure if that’s really his fault, or just that Prince didn’t have to consult with record label ‘experts’ anymore in the post-Warner’s era.

i would say :
best : around the world in a day, 3121, the rainbow children, and i would add (even if it is not directly a Prince album) the Family album,
Parade, sign of the time, the forthcoming album : welcome to America, have good covers, i also like the cover of the Black Album, echoing the Beatles with their White album released in the sixties
20ten cover is not so good, nor are the ones of planet earth, diamonds and pearls and symbol albums,
the cover of 'Come' is gothic and dark and doesn't cause any trouble to a good album, whereas the one of 'For You' is sober with no particular pretention,
i like a lot the music of 'Rave' but i have not a particular opinion about its cover, neither especially good or bad, however the cover of Rave aesthetically doesn't chock me

I have heard tons of stories about fans buying the lovesexy album and getting bad looks from the cashier's after they saw the cover Just think,what it would've been like had prince had his back turned showing off backside.That would've been a more memorable cover What's so bad about the chaos and disorder album cover? It's gotta be SOTT for me. It's the one that has the most compelling interpretations. You can spend a lot of time thinking about why he did it that way and what it means. But purely in terms of beauty, Parade takes the cake. |
