Funny you should mention For You - there is a little fill/stab thing in the song Baby 1:13 ("we'll grow stronger every day"...), that Prince re-uses in Eye Hate U!

PS Ricky Peterson added all the glitter and shine - the early versions were more stripped down. Hopefully if they ever do a SDE they will include some of the bare mixes.

Thanks very much Dandrop, some great info here. I don't know a lot about Ricky P other than he did some additional production on the Gold album. From what you say, it seems he had a pretty big effect on the sound of tracks like this one and Most Beautiful Girl. (not a positive effect in my mind).

I think it's funny that the 'Extended Remix' is a mere 10 seconds longer than the Album Version...

You are absolutely correct. Prince borrowed from himself the synth line from a song off the For You album. I remember when I was revisiting For You, I heard the synth line and was like "Yo, that's Hate U!" Prince really must have liked the line or it was stuck in his subconscious and resurfaced. Great song nonetheless.

The title of this thread should have been "Fans of I Hate U".

What the OP really wrote is that s/he "hates you fans".
