Related artist album Prince should have kept for himself? If there is one releated artist album that you would love to have with Prince at the forefront (singing), which one would it be.
I'd go for The Family album.

I agree,The Family album is one project that Prince should have kept for himself. The song "High Fashion" would have worked so well in UTCM.

Album wise, there’s not many and certainly none that would have been as successful as his (under his own name at the time). But The Family a dozen years later would have been a fine entry in his discography. In 1985? No.

Personally, I prefer The Family album over ATWIAD. That would be my choice.

No. Prince simply had 2 much material just 4 himself. FOOLS multiply when WISE Men & Women are silent.

Maybe not the most obvious choice, but I gotta go with Jill Jones. "Baby You're A Trip" on Originals sounded incredible, and I hope someday we get pristine versions of "G-Spot" and "All Day, All Night" with Prince on vocals

After The Family, this would be the second album I would choose in relation to OP’s question. .

The Family and Jill Jones albums would be my picks as well. They are both top notch material IMHO. Would love remastered versions with Prince on vocals! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I think it's got to be The Family, like everyone else is saying. High Fashion should have been his.

- The Time Albums, The Family Jill Jones - Reality check. So then we would not have The Time, nor The Family, nor Jill. And most possibly Prince's follow up albums as we know 'm won't exist. Think about it. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

- The only one I really would've liked by him alone is ''Oui Can Luv'' - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

The Time was Prince’s greatest and most successful protege band.So those albums needed to exist. The Family was a short-lived band who broke up soon after the album was released. So it was kinda a waste to give those great songs to them.

. Yes, it would have been great to hear The Time’s first album solely with Prince’s vocals! .

Make that the first two! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I don’t know about album, but the song sex shooter would have been better for him. Apollonia sounds horrid on it

- If Prince did 'm, they wouldn't be better songs per sé. The Family and Jill Jones are without a bdoubt absolutely very important artists within the Prince camp. They can't be belittled for any reason. - No, his albums most probably wouldn't excist. You can stretch time to more possiblities within all that happened for real. Just my thoughts. It's best theway it went. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

- Do not agree. The kind of unpolished use of her limited voice abilities and wacky way of singing makes it all the more sexy. It fits the lace and big hair. At least to me. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts" (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

- He had to find outlets for his prolific writing. The Family is such a great band, see them life. They still have chemistry. The one album thing is a Prince choice iirc, as usual. Right after he finished it, that album pushed Prince in a whole other direction of writing onwards, at least i believe that. Yes he did the songs, Susannah and St. Paul did the singing. Wouldn't want it any other way tbh. Such a great and strong album ! Underrated as fuck by most here. -

I can't think of a single song that St. Paul performed better, and same goes for most of Jill's record, which I like. Jill was important for his music, but less so her solo record, which didn't get a lot of mileage. [Edited 6/15/21 1:59am]

A few of these songs ("High Fashion","The Screams Of Passion") could have been used for Parade and UTCM.Without question, these would have been big hits for Prince.

- Yep. Me too. Romance 1600 wouldv'e fitted nicely in that era as a ''Prince'' album. And from the The Time's albums, i prefered the Ice Cream Castle one. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. Surprised no one's mentioned Carmen Electra. Without a doubt his most top shelf material

The Family and anything by The Time, particularly 'Cool', which Prince once said he wished he'd kept for himself. Most of all though, the NPG's EXODUS. If Prince had been willing and/or able to release that monster with him on lead-vocals it would constitute one of the funkiest albums in his entire career, arguably exceeding the nastiness of The Black Album.

First one I thought of was The Family so I guess that one.

- True. µBut he could not release all of 'm at the same as his own albums, and the ones we all know being released so far. The Record Company would've shut thigs down really quick. Too much productivity was one of the reasons why Prince was more than often held back by these companies. - "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves.
