For some reason, a lot of people say Possessed but I don't see it. Studio or live.

The best one is certainly The Work Pt 1. Like James himself could've done that one.

He dedicated it to him though. I think I read it somewhere. Perhaps that's why people make the connection.

Good choices. I'd add "Turn Me Loose" to that list.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

1)Sexy MF

2)The Work

3)Musicology

4)Dance On (The Syncopated Drums channel Clyde Stubblefield)

5)It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night

Honorable Mention: 6)Life O' The Party (Live Version)- They ACTUALLY "Interpolated" James Brown's 1971 Hit "Hot Pants"!! THAT Version should have been on the Album!!!

And 7)Tamborine (Again, the Syncopation)

I was surprised when Prince didn't pay tribute to Brown at the Super Bowl. Brown died almost six weeks before the performance.

Coldplay's tribute to Brown and other greats was so touching, but that was the 50th Super Bowl, so a natural time to look back.

The Work was too derivative for me. Musicology had more personality (nice video, great in concert), but still too much of a rehash. I prefer when he injects more of his own flavor, as in Sexy MF, Prettyman, Kiss and Get on the Boat.

Naw, too many lyrics. To truly be something James would have done it could only consist of a few very short phrases he would grunt over and over.
