4 the Tears in U'r Eyes....the remake (which I believe is the slower acoustic version) is better, in my opinion.

That's not really a remake. It's just a performance in a video. If that's the criteria, then "America," "Baby I'm A Star," "I Would Die 4 U," and others would be remakes. They're not, though. It's more just a version of the song, not a remake.

Except that the original was released on We Are The World, and the remake is on The Hits/The B-Sides.

It's not just a "video performance". PrinceVault lists it as a re-recording.

I actually prefer the WATW version . . . more firmly planted in the ATWIAD sound and not the Parade era. But I do love them both.

Believe it or not, PVault makes tons of mistakes.

"7 (Acoustic)" isn't a remake.

"Big Tall Wall (v2)" is a remake.

See the difference? "4 the Tears in Your Eyes" on The Hits isn't a remake. It's an acoustic version.

Exactly. Technically everything Prince ever records on a show (eg: how he was notorious for making the band rewatch the show they just performed) is a remake, by Se7en's protocol. (Or at least Princevault's.) The Syracuse "Purple Rain" is a remake of the previous show, which is a remake of the previous show, etc. FTTIYE is not a remake. It's a performance. It's a version of the song, but not a remake. I'd say something like "Possessed," "Irresistible Bitch," "The Dance" - those things which were purposely rerecorded and replayed from scratch are remakes. They're do-overs. FTTIYE isn't a do-over. It's simply a performance.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

That's a quasi-shared title, not a remake.

Willing and Able. Either version is amazing. I just prefer the guitar work on the video cut.

This was an obvious ode to JB.

Oh lawd,I'm talking specifically about his studio work here, not his many versions and performances of his songs in concert
If we were taking about live performances of certain songs that were better than the album versions then we would probably all agree that every LIVE performance beats the studio version because Prince always outside himself.Take "Little red Corvette" from monteoux for example.

Another song that I see doesn't get mentioned much is "Van Gogh"
I think the NPGMC version is better than the one that was cut from the Emancipation album.Anyone agree?
