And Money Don't Matter is perfectly boring. Maybe the most boring Prince song. I am befuddled.

I'll rank and rate them!

Cream: 9.8
Live 4 Love: 9.4
Thunder: 9.2
Willing and Able: 9.1
Gett Off: 8.9
Insatiable: 8.6
Strollin': 8.3
Walk Don't Walk: 7.8
Daddy Pop: 6.4
Diamonds and Pearls: 6.2
Jughead: 6
Money Don't Matter 2 Night: 5.6
Push: 3.6

I'm definitely higher on "Live 4 Love" than most, and lower on "Diamonds and Pearls" and "Money Don't Matter 2 Night" than most.

I have issues with these ratings--Live 4 Love is definitely a 9.5, and Daddy Pop is obviously only a 6.3

Here's an unpopular opinion: Insatiable is perfect aside from the awful keyboard horns. That's the only thing I hate about it. If those had been real horns or synth horns not pretending to be real I would give it 5/5. The keyboard take it down to 4.5/5 fopr me. Why does everyone hate that song so much? It not like it's Arm of Orion or something.

Tier 1 (I really like these songs and listen to them all the time):

1. Willing and Able
2. Live 4 Love
3. Gett Off
4. Strollin'
5. Walk Don't Walk

Teir 2 (I recognize that these are objectively decent song, but they bore me):

6. Cream
7. Money Don't Matter 2 Night

Teir 3 (These are guilty pleasures):

8. Push
9. Jughead

Tier 4 (the rest):

10. Insatiable (as others have mentioned, it rips off earlier, better ballads)
11. Daddy Pop (catchy but dated)
12. Diamonds & Pearls (schamltzy)
13. Thunder (cheesy)

Arms of Orion has a great melody.
It s a lame song, I agree, badly executed and boring to listen to, but the melody is great.

Thunder - 6/10
Daddy Pop - 5/10
Diamonds & Pears - 7/10
Cream - 9/10
Strollin' - 6/10
Willing & Able - 5/10
Gett Off - 7/10
Walk Don't Walk - 6/10
Jughead - 1/10
Money Don't Matter Tonight - 8/10
Push - 2/10
Insatiable - 7/10
Live 4 Love - 5/10

Not an album I'd go out of my way to listen to. It's got a few good songs on it but it's probably in my bottom 5 Prince albums. The Tony M rapping and Rosie Gaines wailing ruin it for me.

Review songs out of 5. Then you won't be so out when you get it wrong. smile

Some are on point but some are just soooo wrong.
.
Can’t skip pointing out yet again that D&P is one of the weakest albums of his career. For many reasons. They said, I find it plays better in 2021 than it did in 1991. Also, many reasons behind that.
.
1) title track - never would’ve thought that 30 years ago, but this has survived the best-crafted song on the album and a deserved classic.
.
2) INSATIABLE - slept on this for many years, but now I see it as a song to get get absolutely lost in. Sumptuous. Luxuriant. Sexy AF. Damn near the best cut on the record.
.
3) Gett Off - this probably SHOULDN’T have aged as well as it has, but it is still a JAM!! Wish the longest version was on the album (could’ve cut some of the weakest filler, see below)
.
4) Cream - not a great song, just hard to ignore due to its mainstream popularity, it’s a fine cut that is pretty catchy and stands out on an overall bland album
.
5) Willing and Able - damn, if ONLY the video version was on the album, but still this a worthy inclusion, not QUITE as generic and derivable as some of what is below
.
6) Jughead - yes, putting this right about halfway— sue me. I’ll win because the defense need only point to the extreme FONKINESS of the NPG as a band. I don’t love Tony’s rapping but this shiz is a pure GROOVE if you pay attention to the relentless music
.
7) Strollin’ - depending on my mood any given day, or how could move up a notch or two, someone called it underrated and I would agree.
.
8) Push - I used to skip this almost every time, but now I groove on this almost as much as Jughead. It’s a throwaway, but it’s fun and I’ll take it over what’s below
.
9) Walk Don’t Walk - the whole car horn thing totally tripped my trigger as a kid, seemed so novel and fresh - and I guess it was/is, but for some reason I’m annoyed by it. And the song itself is faceless.
.
10) Thunder - opening cut?? Really?? There’s an A.I. project that recently constructed “new” songs by Nirvana, Jimi, The Doors, and other out of commission acts. If this song didn’t already exist, it’s probably what the A.I. generator would’ve come up with for Prince.
.
11) Money Don’t Matter Tonight - sooooo uninspired, there’s about a dime’s width of difference between the verses and the chorus, and that sameness just creates a plodding bore. Lameness in pretty much every way possible and I really could flip a coin between it and the next on the list.
.
12) Daddy Pop - so disposable and generic, it really DOES NOT even sound like a Prince song. This could’ve been any pop/R&B act of the era. It sucks not because it is unlistenable- but rather because it sounds like so little effort was put into it’s basic competency
.
13) Live 4 Love - WTF? I mean, W… T… ACTUAL… F???? A cacophony of clashing sonic elements paired with lyrical gibberish. It’s all so unpleasant, overproduced and hookless. One of the worst songs he ever chose to release.
I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

D&P is one of my favourites. More consistent than most albums. The first 10 on my list I can listen to all the way through with no issue.

It's been mad since day 0! biggrin
I don't know, this track just is kinda meh. The vocals are mostly dull and the lyrics just make my eyes roll. The maxi single tracks that use the same beat are much more interesting! The "Flutestramental" versiion I can get along with though.

This is gonna be a toughie because this album is not one of his best. Go to it.

1. Money Don't Matter 2Night. Perfect pop with a message, muddled as his politics always were.

2. Diamonds. Perfect pop single. Love that ending. Maybe a bit too commercial.

3. Gett Off, funk on a stick. Great kinky lyrics. Silly video.

4. Strollin. Talk about underrated. This is the jam. Soft jazz confection. Summer spice.

5. Willing and Able. Soulful, live version better.

6. Cream. A bit overrated. Rips off Bang a Gong. Good tune.

7. Push. Funky--decent raps.

8. Live 4 Love. Decent rock./pop. No great tune.

9. Jughead. Fun tune.

10. Thunder. ok if slight.

11. Walk don't Walk. Cute, if slight.

12. Daddy shit, I mean pop. lol. Awful and cutesy.

13. Insatiable. His worst ballad. Rips off better ones. Video is indulgent dreck.

Disagree on Insatiable. Love It! razz biggrin
