Techno version of 'Come'

(l'ange bleu - moderator: Thread title amended - please use the thread title to describe subject matter of thread)

At least we're all agreed on one thing. That the badass outrageously funky techno version of Come is the best thing Prince ever did. United as one, brothers and sisters.

It's not even the best version of that song.

Not even close. That original, funk version it is based on is far superior.

Didn't know there was a techno version of Come. The only time I recall P doing techno was at the Rave Un2 the Year 2000 concert. As a general rule I'm not wild about P remixes. Harmony for instance he often disregards. They sound rushed.

yeah it's probably the one on The Beautiful Experience Vid. And it's not great, the harmony's lazy as my conceited self guessed it would be.

I love them both but if I had to pick one I’d go for the ‘funk version’ that was on 10,000 Wallpaper. That seamless flow into EndorphinMachine was the bollocks

Yup that's the one. The "techno" version is just a remix of that original take.

How any person could listen to any of the versions of Come and not think the cut on 10000 Wallpaper isn't the absolute beast I will never know. It's only one of his best songs of all time, IMO.

Yes, I like the techno mix the best, much much more than the original bare bones funk mix on it.

But I also like the horn party that is the released version on the album. I don't get tired hearing it.

I was soooo disappointed with the released version after hearing the fast one before (aftershow 1993). This, Acknowledge Me, Ripopgodazippa, Days Of Wild, the original Endorphinmachine... - he was sabotaging himself.

The album version is easily the best version of this song

The original organic funk version which I believe originates from 93 is my favourite rendition.

The original 93 configuration of the Come album is very close to the top of my wishlist.

Agreed. The laidback one with the insane bassline is insanely good.

I was disappointed hearing the album version after hearing the "techno" version.

Space, Pheromone, Race, Loose!, all have varying degrees of that more techno sound. Maybe that's why Prince switched it up with the title track.

Side note: Loose! was huge in the Detroit area at the time. A techno version of Come might have had more traction too. That was a huge time for that sound (NIN, etc.)

Wow, cool to hear that "Loose" was played somewhere.

I always preferred the 'techno' version. It was a bit more daring and still has horns!

I made my own single edit of the album version which is much better without the 'puddle' section lol

I like the 10,000 Wallpaper version, but isn't it just an edit of the Glam Slam Ulysses version?

Been a while since I listened, but isn't it missing the 'Maybe you should wrap your legs around my neck for awhile.." bit?

"Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

Loose was a club hit in Tennessee during that time.

P Control was a club hit as well.
