Prince liked to write songs about how great he was and this is one of them but I agree. I wonder how it would have sounded live. [Edited 5/10/21 8:06am] |

A few quotes from Prince: "the Lovesexy tour was hard. I was reliving that metamorphosis every might." So that is probably the reason he stopped playing AnnaStesia. He also called the Revolution "cold and electronic" compared to the band he had on the Nude Tour. And Computer Blue, just like Darling Nikki, is one of those cold electronic songs, so that may explain why he didn't perform those in later years. dont let the predominant Wendy & Lisa Militia at this site see your comment...theyll show up in your orgnotes with burning torches, calling you a liar, and ready to burn you on a crucifix...be careful!
First of all, Prince didn't call The Revolution cold and electronic - he said the sound of that era was cold and electronic. Since he was the one responsible for it, it is hardly a dig at The Revolution - of which he was the supreme leader.
Yes, he did say that about the Revolution in his interview with Neal Karlen in 1990 and it wasn't a dig at anybody: he just meant that some of his bands were better at playing certain songs than others. And that explains why some songs were played more often than others. I also read an interview with Morris Hayes where he said he suggested to Prince that they'd play Lady Cab Driver and Prince said: "it doesn't work live." If you take any of this seriously, you're a bigger fool than I am. |

I seem to recall him saying that as well. |
