Are you an old brand ambassador or a new brand ambassador?

That makes all the difference you know.

I'm fine with it cuz Prince did wear makeup. I don't, but when it comes out and the product looks good, I will purchase it. I hope they sell it in Ulta Beauty stores.

I agree. I just said that on another platform. All this money the estate is making. They need to pay off the taxes on Paisley Park and make sure the heirs are straight financially.

Or you could be angry at Prince being a godawful business man who left a mess.

For all the sh*t u've been talking for years about Prince's biz acumen, u better be a genius multi-millionaire businessman behind the avatar.

Prince personified Black Excellence. His choices may have not been yours, but he was a REVOLUTIONARY in a historically racist, corrupt and oppressive business to Black Art. U wudve recommended against self-producing at 18, releasing Dirty Mind, sacking The Revolution or leaving WB. Whether his net worth was $150-$300 million, he did alright. Lol. And his name will be generating many millions for the rest of our lives as Prince Music lives on for centuries.

I have no problem with the make up thing or the PSG promotion. It all helps gets his name out there. That is the way of the world now with social media and the like. The estate will have to move with the times. Because Prince is no longer here to promote his own stuff or be in charge of it. The music kinda speaks for its self. I want Princes legacy to live beyond me!

That sounds great when you're trying to be melodramatic or quasi-vexed about someone selling something to stay afloat. But the reality is Prince has been a brand when he trademarked his name, his symbol, Paisley Park, New Power Generation, NPG Records, NPGMC and more. Or when he created a perfume.

or when he put a price tag on an album.

And a smart artist diversifies their portfolio. Jay Z ain't still livin' off those Blueprint sales. Beyonce ain't living off Destiny's Child money either. Every one and their mother has had a perfume it seems.

To believe that Beyonce, Prince, or whoever has to only do one thing for the entirety of their life is obtuse, shortsighted, detrimental, and frankly does a great disservice to the artist, and speaks volumes about the alleged "fan."

What's next? Someone on TV can't be in a movie? A singer can't star in a TV show? A band can't offer music for a video game? I mean... it's a ridiculous argument. OF COURSE Prince is a brand. He knew that and monopolized it. Not a thing wrong with that.

The X is typical in makeup world. It's almost like a times symbol in math. It denotes a collaboration of two entities.

Let's say you and I made something together. It'd be HeartPeacesHeart x TrivialPursuit. When James Charles (YouTube makeup guru fucker) did a palette with Morphe it was Morphe x James Charles.

Some artists launch their own product (like Kylie Jenner), but many (especially makeup gurus on YouTube that have a huge following and know their shit) collaborate with an established company, whether it's Morphe, Urban Decay, MAC, or whoever. Typically, those companies will reach out to the guru and offer them a deal to develop a palette, or lipstick, or whatever is their forte.

It's like COMPANY x ARTIST = [PRODUCT]. This by This equals That. So, in this case Urban Decay likely reached out to the estate (not saying that's 100%, but it feels more likely) and said, "Hey, let's do a collab." etc etc etc.

It's typically pronounced as the letter X (eg: EX). "Urban decay [ex] Prince." But in my head I always say "by" or "times." "Urban Decay times Prince." No one would normally say that, but in my head it sounds perfectly legit. haha

Because they don't? It's symbolic of a crossroads between two artists or companies.

I'm pleasantly surprised they are including a brush! Looks great if expensive. I damn well knew there would have to be an eyeliner. Liquid highlighter is another surprise, imo. And those two palettes are no brainers - again, if a bit expensive.

All in all, I'm much more excited about this $100+ pricetag than the W2A deluxe, lol.
