I thought that Erotic City was inspired by a Parliament/George Clinton concert that Prince had just been at and then rushed home and recorded Erotic City with Sheila E.?

I'd reckon that Morris Day was way more influenced by Queen than anyone. Or is it really so awful to imagine vice versa? That Queen were huge fans and followers of The Time, Prince, etc.??? No it isn't.
If MTV had a theme song that was like Hotel California what would it be? I fear that music videos aren't even appreciated as well as they were during that era. Does anybody know anything about music videos outside of YouTube?

Sonically, the whole Symbol album sounds fantastic and Push would be my favourite, what a fun song that is. As for BR, it got my foot tapping a bit when I was a young person but now (well for decades actually) I'm just so bored of it; I always turn the dial to something else when it comes on. On a similar vein but far far better, and one that I always listen to right to the end, is ELO's Mr Blue Sky which has a certain inspirational sweetness to it that's lacking on BR. Completely agree on 3COG and the whole Symbol album but some smart arse will come along soon and tell you Push is on D&P Oops! Of course, silly me! I was thinking of Love 2 The 9's

Definitely inspired by BR - you can hear this in the obvious transitions between moods throughout the song. . I do like this song and I get what he was doing, but it is always ruined by the spoken word from Mayte...

If MTV had a theme song it would have to be the very first video they ever played- Video Killed The Radio Star.

Brian May was a huge Prince fan as well.

I'd go out on a limb here and say that CRYSTAL BALL is more Bohemian Rhapsody than 3 CHAINS OF GOLD is.
