First of all i don't think that Prince's studio version of Bambi is the best. i liked when he connected the theme part with the solo like he was doing since the 90s problem is not that it's not like original but there are some nuances you need to respect when you play Bambi. Just like 777-9311 fo example, you can't play 777-9311 just to sound a bit like it.
For some of you who thinks i'm an asshole i recorded a clip of me playing guitar riff to Bambi just to show you what i'm talking about. there are nuances in that riff and the way u attack it that makes it Bambi here is my take on riff : https://easyupload.io/gfnjb2

Also, did you criticize Prince when he "basically" covered Soul Sacrifice or Play That Funky Music or Creep or Even Flow or Spanish Castle Magic?

You compare Prince covering stuff to these amateurs who are falling apart while playing Bambi.nice lol

In that case, then your initial arguments (critiques if you can them that) are completely flawed and hold no water.

And thats based on what? First of all i like when covers don't sound like original Ella Eyre cover of Jermaine Stewart We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off is a great cover, Ray Charles cover of Johny Cash Ring Of Fire is amazing. Maxwell This Woman Work is even better than the original.
Prince actually did great covers of Hendrix where you can feel the spirit of Jimi. He smoked on Who Knows,Spanish Castle,Foxy Lady with Andy Allo on vocals, also every version of Red House Blues was very good except the one on Rave dvd.
In the case of Bambi it's obvious that these guys tried to replicate the original studio version but guitar plater didn't pick nuances of the riff ,in my opinion he plays like an amateur along with drummer who is falling apart. But singing is ok. In my opinion it sounds like a high school band take on Bambi. But you know what i scrolled down all the utub videos of people trying to cover Bambi and except that guy whose video i posted nobody got the riff right. There is a certain way how you need to attack strings and there is that ghost note that these guys didn't play. The only half decent cover of Bambi is by Guns N Roses bass player Duff but even his version didn't get the riff quite right but at least it's tight cover. I have every right to express my disatisfaction with something i find to be not good enough. You did the same in the past,i've seen you write your dislike about various stuff and i don't remember that i ever wrote stuff 2 u or about you in order to offend you. If i did screen shoot it and show me but i'm sure you will not find it .So that is a difference between you and me. But you can't see that right? you just want to prove your point that what you wrote is valid. And just because somebody covered a Prince song don't mean i should be fond of just because i like Prince. if that the case i suggest you 50 covers by swedish artists that came like 5 years ago, there you will find crap but you will find some really good covers. I mean, based on your arguments, Prince made a dog's dinner out of Whole Lotta Love so many times and that song is far and away more important and beloved in the rock and roll canon than Bambi ever will be.
But I'll leave it. Have a good day, thebanishedone.

Prince played lots of great versions of Whola Lotta Love the onlyy thing is he played in a instead of e and Indigo nights version is one of his best guitar solos ever. [Edited 5/6/21 8:41am]

Just gonna say, fair play on this. The riff these guys are playing sounds fine to me ears but yeah, I think hear the extra nuances you're on about. Prince's guitar playing always had a pile of extras thrown in there.

and thats what i'm talking aboy my friend but some other orgers only try to find negative in just an honest observation.there are those accent punctation ,ghost note that makes Bambi and all the covers suck because those people get the harmony but not the way u should play

I don't think they suck! But maybe I just don't have your standards when it comes to guitars

A song cover in no way requires adherence to the nuances of the original's playing. Only some kind of adherence to the melody. > If it screws with those things and U just don't like it, or it sounds too plain, then that perception iz on U! Somebody else might think that it is cool.
