- Waw. Super happy with this. THANK YOU ! - Honestly, I've watched this many times and more, again. I don't know why, but it always seems to grab me. Time and time again. I know the solo by heart even. I get emotional of listening, looking at this, every single time. I never have that with anything else Prince. I wonder why that is. This is just so simple, and so good. As if he is an equal part of a 'band' of greats, maybe it's that. Don't know. Pure musicianship, and he seemed very happy. Just as normal as he can be. Maybe it's that what touches me so much. It grabs me over and over again. -

After the broadcast Harrisons wife or someone else posted another mix of the performance where Prince's solo was less loud and you can hear that guy again squeeling annoyingly through the end of Prince's solo.

The original cut was better. Prince is too overexposed in this one.

It's the best thing since the previous version. At first one could think 'where is Prince?' if they do not pay that much attention. But closer to the end he gets plenty of camera time... Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

. Prince overexposure? Does that exist? And also: it is a Director's Cut. Not the cut for the poor souls of the general public. The Director might have felt the need to go this way to satisfy his or her's urges w.r.t. this performance... That is pretty legit reason for a Director's Cut. . . .

And if you do, you can start with the first link or the second link. Quite simple. 😄 NPG Radio:

Not defending what Dhani said but my guess is he was annoyed at all the attention this performance was getting after Prince died, becuase all the attention was on Prince's solo. Of course the reason all the attention is on Prince's solo is because that's the only worthwhile portion of the performance. The rest of it is just a boring note for note rendition of the original. Sorry, the infomercial for the RnRHoF DVDs just came on and of course I have to watch up to the part where the announcer guy says, "... and this really happened" and then they show you know what. It's as if everyone else on stage was like, Oh, right, we're not playing for the Safe n Predictable Hall of Fame. THAT'S what we're actually here for. Blowing minds and to hell with the rest of it. Thanks for reminding us, Mr. Prince, sir.

The Daily Doug video. Cool story from a music teacher, talking about modal . He happened to be teaching modal mixture theory on April 21, 2016 at Westminster Choir College. Modal mixture is when you go switch between a major and minor, or minor to major, key. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is a classic example. He explains it's not necessarily a proper modulation (like going from A to Bb or something) Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
