Thank you for bringing this to light, they have done many, many things to upgrade Paisley, then some goofball comes along, who doesn't know what he's talking about and everyone believes it.

Replacement of the roof? It has a vinyl roof, the same as on every other flat-roofed building. Periodic maintenance of an industrial building is no surprise.



The only possible explanation is that someone's trying to devalue the assessment of Paisley for estate tax purposes.

I always think the same regarding these situations. Either people didn't attend their history or english literature classes. Or they did attend them, perhaps are a bit stupid or very forgettable. Like you can be guillible by nature but there's also a part of the brain that goes hang on a moment. It's called critical thinking and lack of it leads to bad places often, like Nazi Germany. Dishonesty is at the heart of every corrupt regime.

Long and short of it is, P did not seek help from anyone outside his normal doctor and even the Kornfield doctor had his support solicited by someone other than Prince. This thread should now be moved to Gen. Discussion or P & R where hopefully it will remain in permanent abeyance due to being bullshit. And having nothing to do with Prince. Either do that or close the thread.

Paisley Park as a museum wasn't a good idea in the first place imho.

Yes the idea was fantastic, but the costs vs income are not worth it.

It is too big, and too expensive to maintain. everyone knows that.

Prince himself nearly gave up on most of it it seemed, as we can see from the pictures of the investigation.

Most of the rooms and stuff were run down, poorly maintained. Many rooms were also empty and deserted, with some old computers here and there, and tatty furniture.

Probably it will either one day be sold or maybe demolished, who knows.

(And don't forget that unfinished oval building...)

Forget the fan/museum thing - I know most people here are going to bash me for saying this.

They can also rent out the sound stage as a hall for concerts and other events.

(Do they do that now as well ? I have no idea.)

From some people I personally know who went I heard it is not much worth it, and the tours are expensive, for what you get.

Maybe they should pick someone outside of the camp to make a valuable selection of all things Prince, and organize a traveling exhibition, a better one than the one they did in Amsterdam.

(They've already done this for Bowie.)

They need someone from the artworld to do that. Not people like those who are doing the Elvis thing etc. Give it a new approach and a fresh look. Damn how else they do it with antics and stuff ?

Get a good curator, someone who understands that not all lights need to be puprple for instance.

It should also be understood that not everyone will stay interested in all things Prince.

He's already gone for 5 years, and maintaining such a huge building cost money.

Not to forget the most important, everything in The Vault also has to be maintained and preserved.

They will never get enough money to keep it all up, not even with 5 SDE releases + 10 blurays releases a year.

That is the problem with Paisley Park in its current form. Say that it's still frequented post-covid with enough crowds, yes it can sustain itself financially. But that's probably not gonna be the case 15 or 20 years out. Prince is not Elvis, or even Michael Jackson or The Beatles, commercially.

Usually the most outstanding artist isn't the most popular of his day; cue Bach and Mozart. Prince sales were great in 2016, not so much now. So it should surprise noone that Paisley Park is never gonna be Graceland. Which by the way now occupies 120 acres?! as it keeps expanding. Like the new 80,000 square foot Exhibition Center. Graceland brings in over $10 million a year. Money talks and so do Elvis' private parts apparently. And they do restaurants now so you can get big like Elvis too.

The thing to do which hasn't been done yet to my knowledge, as alluded to above, is position Paisley Park as a concert venue plus recording studio and have it for hire. Because the museum is not gonna draw in enough crowds as time moves on.
